The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), whose mission is to enhance the fiscal and financial stability, accountability and integrity of the Government of the District of Columbia, is in search of a Human Resources Specialist, Employee Benefits. This position is located in the Office of Human Resources and is responsible for providing technical guidance and procedural assistance to employees on a variety of employee benefit programs.

The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), whose mission is to enhance the fiscal and financial stability, accountability and integrity of the Government of the District of Columbia, is in search of a Human Resources Specialist, Employee Benefits. This position is located in the Office of Human Resources and is responsible for providing technical guidance and procedural assistance to employees on a variety of employee benefit programs.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Counseling employees on benefit program options
- Coordinating with payroll to ensure the accuracy of benefits deductions
- Reviewing and making determinations regarding reasonable accommodation requests in accordance with laws and regulations
- Calculating retirement benefits
- Processing employee retirement paperwork and death claims
- Administering Family and Medical Leave, Paid Family Leave, and the voluntary leave transfer programs
- Providing guidance on fitness for duty
- Ensuring benefit, retirement, and pension programs are administered in compliance with all relevant regulatory and corporate governance requirements
- Staying abreast of industry trends to provide advice and counsel on those trends; this is inclusive of legislative and compliance-related matters, such as Employee Retirement Income Security Act, ACA, FMLA, ADA, and other federal and state legal and regulatory requirements
- Performing other related duties as assigned
