A place for travelers and locals alike, the hotel has three restaurants, a coffee + bakeshop, rooftop pool, award-winning Lobby Bar, and two retail spaces, in addition to a range of community events + programming open to all. All locally owned, all right at the doorstep of Austin's favorite street.JOB OVERVIEWThe Human Resources and Administrative Assistant is responsible for supporting the HR and Operations departments with various administrative tasks including team coordination, onboarding, employee relations, employee records, recruitment, payroll processing, and administrative support. This role will be a trusted point of contact for new hires and existing team members and assist in championing a collaborative and welcoming work environment. A successful assistant will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.What you'll do:Provide high-level administrative support to the hotel management team including the General Manager and department headsAct as a liaison between hotel departments, communicating information, managing calendars, coordinating meetings, and handling correspondenceRespond to internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests and assist as neededCoordinate and facilitate new employee onboarding and orientation including new hire paperwork, conducting orientation sessions, and ensuring accurate and timely completion of required forms and documentsAssist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records including personnel files, time-clock records, time-off records, and other HR-related documentsSupport the recruitment and hiring process by sourcing candidates, assisting with the application process, performing background checks, issuing offers of employment, and organizing new-hire onboardingProvide training and support to team members on HRIS system, processes, and proceduresCoordinate with department managers to ensure timely and accurate processing of payrollObtain a strong understanding of HR policies and procedures including employment laws and regulationsAssist in the communication of HR policies, procedures, and programs; ensure that employees are informed about practices and provide guidance and support in compliance mattersAssist in the preparation and distribution of HR-related communications, including employee announcements, programs, and initiativesCoordinate and schedule employee onboarding, training, and development programsSupport HR projects and initiatives such as as the collection of employee engagement surveys and annual check-insSchedule meetings, interviews, team agendas, and HR events including job fairs; ensure the successful execution of employee-related eventsAssist with the coordination of performance management processes and required trainingsMaintain and encourage open-door communication with all team membersChampion and educate staff on New Waterloo's benefits, perks, and impact programmingMaintain awareness of documentation needed and retained in employee filesAssist in ad-hoc projects as directedWho you are: You use your time wisely and are an expert in prioritizing and multi-tasking.You have strong computer skills + the ability to pick up on software programs quickly.You know how important relationships are and you find joy in growing and maintaining new ones.You take ownership of your work and you're able to maintain organization in a changing environment.You're thorough, have excellent communication, and pay close attention to detail.You take initiative and can work both autonomously and within a team.A plus: You have working knowledge of HR best practices, compliance, and relevant laws.A plus: You have previous experience working in hospitality, restaurants, or hotels.A plus: You're fluent in verbal and/or written English and Spanish.A must: You like to have fun & be nice.BENEFITSWe are proud to offer competitive wages and the following benefits for full-time employees: Up to 3 weeks paid time off annually50% off discount at most New Waterloo restaurantsHealth, vision + dental benefits401K matchingPaid holidaysVolunteer payTuition reimbursementReferral bonusesDiscounts at our shops, hotels + local partnershipsABOUT NEW WATERLOONew Waterloo is an independent hospitality development + management company.
