Responsibilities

About the Position: We are looking for a full-time (32 hours) Medical Records Specialist for our Health Information Management Department. Majority of the position will be chart assembly, faxing aftercare documentation, data entry, chart analysis, and fulfills release of information requests as appropriate. You will need to be highly detail orientated, have strong time management skills, and be able to keep up with a high volume of activity, and be able to interact well with physicians and other departments. Will need to be able to sit for long periods of time (2-4 hours at a time). Requires a considerable amount of bending, stooping and stretching. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds of patients' records.

 

The core work schedule will be:  Tuesday thru Saturday 7am - 3:30pm or 8am-4pm

Cedar Springs Hospital COVID-19 vaccination mandate:

 

In accordance with Colorado state public health order, all healthcare workers must be vaccinated, and the Company must verify vaccine status. Pursuant to this public health order, the following modes constitute as proof of vaccination:

      • an electronic entry in the Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS); OR
      • an immunization record from a licensed healthcare provider who has administered a COVID-19 vaccine to an individual who provides services for the facility or agency, specifying the vaccine administered, name and title of the person who administered the vaccine, address of the location where the vaccine was administered, and the date it was administered. A

      COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card (issued by the Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control & Prevention or WHO Yellow Card) which includes name of person vaccinated, type of vaccine provided, and date last dose administered would suffice.

       

        Exemptions

       

      1. Workers may be exempt from the vaccination requirements by providing a signed exemption form indicating one of the following:

       

      1. Religious Beliefs
      2. Qualifying Medical Reason

       

      1. To be eligible for an exemption based on Religious Beliefs, the worker must provide a written statement describing the worker’s sincerely held religious beliefs and how those beliefs conflict with Colorado’s August 21, 2021 Public Health Order requiring certain healthcare workers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The company may request supporting documentation to further evaluate the request for religious accommodation.
      1. To be eligible for a Qualified Medical Reason exemption, the worker must provide a written statement signed by a physician, physician assistant, advanced practice nurse, or certified nurse midwife licensed in the State of Colorado stating that the COVID-19 vaccination for the employee, direct contractor, or support staff is medically contraindicated as described in the product labeling or authorized by the FDA. This statement should not describe the underlying medical condition or disability but should indicate the probable duration of the inability to receive the vaccine.

      Qualifications

      Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate strong competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Strong customer service, written/verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills required. Computer literate - especially in Microsoft Word and Excel.  The ability to maintain patient confidentiality. Requires ability to exercise independent judgement to accomplish goals and manage time efficiently as an independent worker. The ability to multi-task is an essential skill for this position.  Must be able to work independently and fullfill release of information requests as appropriate.

       

      Skills:

      Requires strong organizational, verbal, interpersonal, and excellent customer service skills, grammar and spelling, the ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers, referral sources, etc. Possess strong critical thinking skills. Be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision. 

       

      Education:  High school education or equivalent. Minimum of one-year in Health Information Services in a healthcare facility, behavioral health experience preferred; experience in the interpretation and application of chart completion guidelines; experience working 1:1 with physicians and other healthcare providers. Strong understanding of HIPAA.
