Job Summary

As part of the Athletic Department, the Head Volleyball Coach/Athletic Department Assistant is responsible for administration of all aspects of the intercollegiate volleyball program. In addition, this position has responsibility for assisting with athletic department game management. This person is expected to work in cooperation with staff across the Athletics Department, other Student Services units, other areas of the college, high school personnel, and personnel from other colleges to develop and maintain a high quality intercollegiate volleyball program-offering an excellent experience to participating student athletes.

Job Duties

• Lead instructor of teaching and coaching student athletes during practice and games.
• Identify and evaluate the recruiting of prospective student athletes.
• Schedule of all in season athletic contests.
• Develop off-season conditioning and practice programs.
• Handle all equipment purchasing, fitting and maintenance of equipment.
• Implement the daily planning of team practices.
• Develop a program for team conditioning and workouts.
• Administer and oversee the operating and travel budgets for the program.
• Follow all college guidelines to ensure team compliance with NJCAA, TCCAA and college guidelines.
• Develop an academic success program for monitoring of student athletes academic progress.
• Set the volleyball court up with equipment  for practices and matches.
• Promote student athletes in sportsmanship, personal integrity, and social and emotional well being.
• Work with the assistant coach and support staff.
• Assist with home athletic events of other athletic programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma.  Associate's degree preferred.
• Previous coaching experience at the collegiate or high school level.
• Experience in recruitment of student athletes.
• Ability to balance work schedule and adapt to schedule changes.
• Possession of a valid Tennessee driver license.
• Ability to drive college assigned vehicles to matches outside of the CSCC location. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to drive college vehicles to away matches.
• Ability to understand and implement match statistics.
• Ability to lift and move equipment (in excess of 50+ pounds).
• Work flexible hours.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Meet with media outlets regarding games, statistics, etc..
• Monitor student athletes academic performance and progress.

JOB LOCATION

The main campus of Cleveland State Community College is the primary workplace.  Regular travel to athletic events at other institutions is expected, along with travel for recruitment purposes.
