Head Football Coach: Watertown High School Department: AthleticsLocation: Watertown High SchoolSalary range: $10,049 - $12,560Reports to: Athletic DirectorTime Frame: 8/16/24 - 11/28/24_______________________________________________________Summary: Watertown High School seeks an exceptional Head Football Coach for our Boy's Football Program. Candidates should be motivated, holding a positive attitude towards the team, coaches, and other athletic department staff members. The coach will emphasize the importance of team culture to: foster social, emotional, and physical growth & development and support student's overall character development as a student-athlete.

An emphasis is placed on the importance of continuous improvement, teamwork, diversity, sportsmanship, pride, work ethic, and the understanding of creating a positive and safe experience for all student-athletes. The coach will work with our student-athletes to teach the fundamentals of football and the concept of being part of a team while fostering physical fitness and skill development. Team Responsibilities:Ensure that all athletic activities conform to MIAA guidelines, including:Eligibility based on training rules, lettering procedures, grade requirements, and rules of behaviorCreate a safe environment for students in the locker room, on the field, and at all team events Effectively motivate students to perform through positive coaching strategies Develop and equitably enforce team rules, while clearly communicating them to players and familiesCoordinate and supervise high school football programs as well as individual teamsDesign a training program and game programOrganize and manage the coaching staff to ensure correct program implementation Help students achieve gains in athletic skills and team performanceTrain assistant coaches in techniques, skills, philosophy, rules, and strategiesEnsure the continual supervision of student-athletes Ensure that health and safety precautions are observed during all activities Culture Expectations:Build a positive team culture rooted in empathy, hard work, equity, and disciplinePromote an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanshipSupport the value of a holistic education Administrative Requirements:Submit a complete team roster to the Athletic Director ten days before the first contestEnsure proper purchasing, inventory, and care of equipmentCreate game and practice schedulesCoordinate team transportationConsistently hold meetings with coaches throughout the seasonReport all major injuries incurred during practice sessions or competitions to the Athletic Director and PrincipalEnsure all physical evaluation and permission forms are correctly completed and filed Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community organizationsReact productively to any changes Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director, Principal, or other Administrative Staff Required Qualifications and Skills:High School Diploma (or equivalent) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or universityCPR certificationStrong knowledge of scouting, player development, game management, and effective practice regimens Prolonged sitting or standingAbility to occasionally perform physical tasks, such as moving, lifting, carrying, pulling, or pushing heavy objects and materialsAbility to occasionally stoop, bend, and reachSome travelWork in noisy and crowded environments Preferred Qualifications and Skills:Experience with a language other than English (Spanish or Portuguese preferred) Equal Opportunity EmployerWatertown Public Schools is committed to maintaining a work and learning environment free from discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, pregnancy, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital/civil union status, ancestry, place of birth, age, citizenship status, veteran status, political affiliation, genetic information or disability, as defined and required by state and federal laws.
