SUMMARY/SCOPE:
This is a FT-30(Full Time - 30 Hours Per Week) hourly position serving as the HeadCheerleading and Mascot Coach / Community Affairs at Hardin-Simmons Universityin Abilene, TX. This position is responsible for promoting student athleticismand school spirit within the HSU Cheer Team, athletic sports teams andthroughout campus.
The Head Cheerleadingand Mascot / Community Affairs coach will attend various university events, fundraisers,community events, football, basketball, and volleyball games. This coach willalso attend many other community or campus marketing events and photo shoots,when needed.
HSU JOB FAMILY CLASSIFICATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tomentor, coach, and support the HSU cheerleaders/athletes.
Createa contract that will best support the athlete, university, and the team as aunit.
Coordinate/planpractice schedules.
Coordinatemeetings with athletes and chairs.
Attend practices, camps, all home football, and basketball games. As well assome volleyball games.
AssistAlumni Office in planning of cooperative alumni/prospective student events.
Be able to spot both men and women on standing back tucks as well as runninground off layouts, etc.
Workeffectively with students and other staff on campus.
Coachand manage the HSU Mascot, Hoss. Schedule appearances, coordinate with studentlife, marketing, and athletics.
Collaboratewith the community for HSU Cheerleaders and Hoss to provide appearances to thebig county.
UniversityBranding for Hoss and the HSU Cheerleaders.
CoordinateHSU Cheer Mini-Camp in the fall.
CoordinateHSU Cheer Summer camp for mini cheerleaders.
Collaboratewith other Universities to stay current.
Coordinateand schedule competition for our competitive team.
Meetwith Prospective students in hopes of encouraging them to attend our university.
Create/Choreographroutines, appearances, tailgates, cheers, chants.
Workwith the HSU Strength and Conditioning program to coordinate two days a weekfor work outs.
Developfundraising strategies.
Maintaina positive and encouraging environments for all athletes.
Workwith Band, Spurs, and media team.
Always work to improvecharacter skills such as, hard work, patience, courage, etc. and integrate aChristian perspective into their work, while encouraging student athletes to dothe same.
Community Affairs- Individualwill be responsible for coordinating all community affairs that involve theAthletic department. This includes preparing and implementing a communityservice project for the Athletic department along with service projects foreach athletic team. Candidate will also coordinate with the Spiritual Lifeoffice how students may qualify for Chapel credit for participating incommunity service projects.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from Hardin-SimmonsUniversity required.
Must have a cheerleading background.
Must have knowledge of Co-Ed,baskets, and pyramid stunting.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must be ACCAA certified. Must be renewed every three years.
Must be USASF certified. Must be renewed annually.
Must have concussion training.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Thisis a Non-Exempt/Hourly,FT30 (Full Time - 30 Hours Per week) Staff Position.
This position willnormally work "up to 30 hours per week", however there may be timeswhere additional hours and/or overtime may be required during peak season.
Travel and irregularwork hours are required, including occasional nights and weekends during peakseason.
Any hours worked beyond40 hours in a single work week will be compensated at time and a half, per FLSAguidelines.
Musthave and maintain a valid Class C Driver's License and maintain a clear drivingrecord to be insurable under the university liability policy.
Mustbe able to drive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
Additionaltravel may be required on occasion.
