Job Title: Full-Time Handyman/Janitor Location: La Scuola d'Italia, PreK - 12th Grade School, Position Type: Full-Time, Hourly Summary: La Scuola d'Italia is seeking a reliable and skilled Handyman/Janitor to join our facilities team on a full-time basis. The Handyman/Janitor will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and custodial tasks to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the school facilities for students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities: General Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as repairing plumbing fixtures, electrical systems, HVAC systems, and building structures. Custodial Services: Clean ommon areas on a daily basis, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting. Groundskeeping: Maintain outdoor areas, including sidewalks, parking lots, and playgrounds, by sweeping, shoveling snow, and removing debris. Safety Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify potential hazards or maintenance issues and report findings to the facilities manager. Repairs: Respond promptly to repair requests from faculty, staff, and administrators, and ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues. Event Support: Assist with setting up and dismantling furniture, equipment, and decorations for school events, meetings, and activities. Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations, such as floods, power outages, or security breaches, and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of occupants. Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, building codes, and school policies related to facility maintenance and custodial services. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in maintenance or facilities management preferred. Proven experience in general maintenance, custodial services, or related field. Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in using hand and power tools. Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and climbing. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Possession of licenses F07 (Fire and Emergency Drill Conductor) and S95 (Supervisor of Maintenance Work) preferred. Schedule: This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, with occasional evening or weekend hours required for special events or emergencies.
