Form of workDuties and Responsibilities:
Orders and maintains inventory of sign shop supplies and equipment.
Schedules maintenance of equipment.
Meets with County personnel and tenants to coordinate design and installation of interior and exterior signs.
Coordinates with vendors for purchase and installation of specialty signs.
Fabricates and installs signs using various commercial media, paint, tape, and engraving.
Ensures installation of final work product.
Will be required to drive personal or county vehicle to various work sites.
Inspects work in progress and finished materials to see that quality, quantity, and printability standards comply.
Ensures the preparation of materials for reproduction.
Maintains records and files of work performed, computes costs of reproduction jobs.
Performs all phases of graphics work including, plate making, as well as the design, layout, arrangement, and sketching of materials for reproduction.
Maintains PC-based computer-aided design/manufacturing systems for sign fabrication which includes various software and database programs, scanners, digitizing tablets, printers and plotters, and special fonts and text for manufacturing signage.
Maintains records of orders and inventory and follows up with vendors on shipment and delivery for the design shop performs additional functions incidental to office activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience:
One (1) year commercial sign making.
Must have experience in print preparation including lettering, drawing, and combing materials for reproduction.
Licensure:
Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be computer literate on a Windows platform
Must communicate effectively in English, with tenants of County facilities.
Must be a self-starter able to work productively without immediate supervision.
Must have excellent color vision to match existing color schemes.
Must have a thorough knowledge of printing, reproduction, and graphic display techniques.
Must have a thorough knowledge of print shop and photographic equipment.
Must have the ability to plan, design, and layout graphic art pieces.
Must have a thorough knowledge of graphic arts; and considerable technical experience in graphic artwork.
Must be able to pass security checks, including obtaining clearance for the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), and drug tests, as required. This position is Safety Sensitive and subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field preferred.
Knowledge of:
Visual Ideation/ Creativity.
Typography.
Design Software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
Color Theory.
Web Design/Basic HTML & CSS
Layout/Conversion Optimization
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
40 hours per week
Monday through Friday | 8 hours per day
Normal core office hours of 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM with one (1) hour lunch, but also subject to early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday work as required
Work Environment:
The primary work area is a typical office environment with reasonable climate control.
Physical Demands:
This position may require lifting or physical exertion beyond very modest levels.
May work with no air conditioning or heating.
Duties may require working on ladders and scaffolding; standing, sitting, bending, stooping, climbing, stretching; may work in cramped and awkward positions; may be exposed to dust, dirt, paint fumes, etc.
