A full-time GRADE 6 SCIENCE/MIDDLE SCHOOL ROBOTICS TEACHER position for the 2024-25 school year is available at St. Louise Parish School in Bellevue, (stlouiseschool.org), celebrating 60 years of providing academic excellence in an atmosphere fostering Catholic faith and values. St. Louise has a comprehensive curriculum, impressive facilities, and specialist teachers in the areas of music, art, P.E., technology, and library. There are two 6th grade homerooms, each averaging 22 students per class. The middle school comprises of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.

Ability and Skills Desired

1. Has experience in successfully teaching middle school students;
2. Current WA state teaching certification;
3. Has an endorsement and/or experience in science and robotics.
4. Practicing Catholic preferred;
5. Appreciates the ability to team with his/her 6th grade partner teacher and with other middle school teachers to cooperatively create a dynamic program;
6. Preferred experience with Windows operating system;
7. Experience in block-based coding (Code.org or Scratch for example);
8. Experience in Python coding not required but should be willing to learn to develop advanced classes;
9. Preferably, the applicant has participated in or taught robotics courses;
10. Experience with VEX Robotics would be extremely helpful but not required;

Responsibilities Include

1. Will teach 6th grade science consisting of topics such as: Ecology & the Environment, Earth Science, and Geology;
2. Will teach robotics program to 6th through 8th graders. Preferably, the applicant has participated in or taught robotics courses;
3. Teach robotics in grades 3-5 when it is rolled out in the 25-26 school year;
4. Teach electives to 6th through 8th graders;
5. Co-Teach 3D Design (elective);
6. Cover classes during free periods if needed;
7. Establishes and maintains a positive and orderly classroom environment needed to provide a productive environment;
8. Evaluates each student's progress in academics and social skills, and communicates progress via report card marks and frequent parent conferences;
9. Maintains professional competence through continuing education and in self-selected professional growth activities;
10. Willing to educate middle school students while helping to develop 2nd - 5th grade robotic discovery courses;
11. Facilitate an after-school program for local school competitions;
12. Will facilitate Environmental Camp in the Spring
13. Homeroom Teacher in 6th grade

Salary:
The range for this position is $58,666-$99,628. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees and certifications.
