LandSolutions is looking to hire a GIS Analyst in Eastern USA. This is a remote position that supports the GIS department at our Calgary headquarters.
The Role
The GIS Analyst is responsible for performing GIS tasks for LandSolutions projects. This includes receiving data from clients, acquiring data from internal and online sources, analyzing datasets using pre-made and custom tools, managing Geodatabases and organizing project and generic datasets, and outputting GIS data into PDF, KMZ, Shapefile, Feature Class, Web Map Applications, and other formats.
Responsibilities
- Perform data analysis using ArcGIS Pro and related extensions/add-ons, File Geodatabases, and other computer software
- Utilize File Geodatabases, Enterprise Geodatabases, and Relational Database Systems
- Design and implement custom GIS tools for Esri's desktop and internet products including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise
- Conduct data analysis and preparation of documents, data reports, and maps
- Ensure that accurate and complete metadata are recorded for all datasets and that metadata is distributed with data when requested by clients
- Perform all GIS work in timely and quality manner meeting project schedules and deadlines
- Work in a team setting with other workers to identify effective ways to complete various planning projects
- Assist with scoping GIS projects
- Serve as technical representative and provide technical expertise to clients and workers on assigned projects
- Learn new skills related to information technology, planning, or other agency priorities, as required
- Prepare and conduct presentations
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in geography, planning, computer science, or related field or equivalent of experience and education
- Esri course certifications an asset
- 3+ years experience in the use of ArcGIS Pro and its related extensions and file geodatabases
- 1-3 years experience in use of ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Portal
- Demonstrated experience designing custom applications using ArcGIS Web AppBuilder
- 1-3 years experience in using Python and Model Builder
- Working knowledge of RDBMS (MS SQL Server), ability to write and edit SQL statements
- Ability to understand and apply the capabilities of GIS, databases, and other computer programs to solve complex spatial and relational problems
- Professional manner with the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders
- Able to work well both independently, as well as with a team
- Experience in creating maps, performing analysis and outputting map products for the mining industry, including calculating slope geometry
- Experience with Municipal GIS including conducting discovery sessions with municipalities, working with municipal data, acquiring and incorporating new datasets for municipalities, and working with parcel fabric data including digitization
- Experience working on US parcel land projects including renewable facilities, pipelines, and transmission lines
- This is a remote position reporting to Calgary HQ, needs to be comfortable working remotely at home office
