THIS CAN BE A REMOTE POSITION WITH WILLINGESS TO TRAVEL

We are looking for multi-skilled candidates with a quantitative background and experience within fiber optic network engineering/construction for the position of GIS analyst. GIS analysts are responsible for discovering patterns and trends through spatial mapping, developing mapping applications, tools, and managing a digital library of geographic maps in various file types, among other duties.

GIS analysts will need to explain geographic trends and findings from their analyses to clients, requiring excellent written and verbal communication.

GIS Analyst Responsibilities:

  • Implement GIS, data and mapping for Engineering and design project teams.
  • Designing digital maps with geographic data and other data sources.
  • Utilize various software packages and information from various sources (Arc Pro, AGOL, MS Excel spreadsheets and documents such as deeds, field notes, etc.) to create GIS maps to support field personnel as well as for deliverables.
  • Collaborate with GIS Analysts and developers in refining processes and creating tools and applications that benefit the project team.
  • Creates, modifies, and reviews engineering drawings for a variety of projects including, but not limited to Fiber and Utility Network builds.
  • Analyzing spatial data using mapping software.
  • Discovering patterns and trends through spatial mapping of data.
  • Designing digital maps with geographic data and other data sources.
  • Creating "shapefiles" to merge topographical data with external data by layering external data over a topographical map.
  • Producing maps showing the spatial distribution of various kinds of data, including engineering design routes.
  • Developing mapping applications and tools.
  • Converting physical maps into a digital form for computer usage.
  • Performing data munging and cleaning to convert data into its desired form.
  • Produce reports on geographic data utilizing data visualizations.
  • Managing a digital library of geographic maps in various file types.

GIS Analyst Requirements:

  • Degree in computer science, geography, surveying, engineering, or related field. Or relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with database programming languages such as SQL, R or Python.
  • Proficiency with front end design languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and various mapping languages.
  • Experience with GPS measuring tools.
  • Outstanding quantitative skill set.
  • Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills.
  • Analytical mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • ArcGIS Enterprise: Monitor/Server/Portal/Insights
  • ArcGIS Server Installation and Configuration
  • ArcGIS Portal
  • Server side scripting to include Python
  • ESRI ArcGIS Pro
  • ETL Automation
  • Oracle & SQL Server databases

Qualifications

  • ArcGIS Enterprise: Monitor/Server/Portal/Insights

  • ESRI Desktop Pro
  • ESRI ArcGIS Pro
  • ETL Automation
  • Oracle & SQL Server databases
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Nice to have: Data publishing methods to include Replication to reduce need for custom ETL scripts

Travel


  • Willing to travel, as required, with primary work functions in an office (home office) environment
    • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to transport yourself and any required equipment.
