The Endoscopy Technician assists with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or physicians in Endoscopy. The technician assists with assessment of patient needs and follows through with the designated plan of action. The technician is responsible for the care, handling, and processing of endoscopy procedural equipment and turnover of the procedure room(s). The technician is responsible for assisting with diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic procedures such as ERCP, EUS/EBUS, GI bleeds, food bolus and foreign body removal, stenting of the esophagus, duodenum, colon, volumetric laser endomicroscopy bile and pancreatic ducts in the Endoscopy Department and other areas of the hospital. Technicians also support pulmonary diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic procedures such as bronchial lavage, tracheal and bronchial stenting, endobronchial valve placement, navigational bronchoscopy, pleuroscopy, thoracentesis, and robotic guided endoscopy in the Endoscopy department. The advanced Endoscopy Technician works in the procedural unit. May have on-call responsibilities outside of 'normal' work hours and may be cross-trained to work in multiple sites at the employer's discretion This individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span, appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs, and be able to communicate data reflective of the patient's status.

Additional Qualifications
Medical background and experience as a Medical Assistant or GI Technical Specialist (GTS) preferred. Familiarity with the digestive tract and respiratory disease processes. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting. Excellent communication skills. Minimal typing and basic computer skills.
