Geologist - ACES

Geologist

JOB SUMMARY:
The geologist will provide geological and environmental expertise for projects involving geologic field investigations, environmental site assessments, remediation, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field investigations, analyzing data, and providing recommendations to support environmental remediation, construction, and resource development projects. The position requires a strong background in geology, hydrogeology, and/or environmental remediation, as well as the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Conduct site assessments, field investigations, and subsurface investigations to characterize soil, groundwater, and surface water; evaluate geological conditions; identify potential hazards and assess potential environmental risks.
  • Develop and implement site investigation and remediation plans and monitoring systems for contaminated sites, including selecting and applying appropriate treatment technologies and assessing the effectiveness of cleanup efforts.
  • Conduct geologic site reconnaissance and investigation, soil and rock sampling and characterization, field mapping, geologic interpretation, and reporting.
  • Perform hydrogeological evaluations, including groundwater sampling, data analysis, and reporting to support site characterization and remediation efforts.
  • Prepare technical reports, regulatory submittals, and other project documentation and presenting findings to clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all environmental investigations and remediation efforts.
  • Collaborate with other professionals such as architects, engineers, environmental scientists and contractors to provide technical input and to develop comprehensive plans for environmental management and remediation.
  • Stay current with advances in geotechnical technology and best practices to improve project efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and project teams to ensure that project goals are met.
  • Participate in business development activities, including proposal writing and client meetings.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support the AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, geophysics, geological engineering Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Three to ten years of experience in any one or more of the following:
    • Conducting site assessments, field investigations, and subsurface investigations.
    • Environmental and contaminated site investigations including soil/water sampling, monitoring, and data analysis.
    • Remediation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote locations as needed.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least one year of experience related to Arctic geology, Arctic engineering, or Arctic environmental sciences.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and guidelines.
  • Familiarity with environmental assessment tools, including GIS, soil and water sampling techniques, and risk assessment methodologies a plus.
  • Experience with geologic and hydrogeologic modeling software a plus.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
