Form of workThe Hayden in San Antonio, TX is growing (opening up a new location) and looking for a general manager to join our management team and staff of 30+. We are located on 4025 Broadway Rd, right at the intersection of Broadway & Hildebrand & new location with be in the Alon center, at 10003 NW Military Hwy (former Green Vegetarian space).
We like to think of ourselves as a "finer diner" - a modern interpretation of an old-school diner with a Jewish-deli inspired menu and full bar. We serve breakfast, lunch, dinner & weekend brunch. Check things out here: www.thehaydensa.com.
Our ideal candidate has strong restaurant management experience and a drive to want to take that experience to the next level by helping to grow a new business AND mentor a staff of kind, energetic, and positive employees (that is how we hire). A solid understanding of cooking techniques and food is certainly a plus. This is a career for the kind of person that prefers trying new food and supporting local business. Even though we are a diner, we take the food and care we put into it very seriously. This is a from scratch kitchen and we don't half-ass anything we do and don't expect you to either.
This is a perfect opportunity for someone that might want to open their own business one day or get in with a new restaurant group that has plans for additional expansion. We need more creative folks in management that can contribute their ideas and energy to helping grow our name (and in return, their wallets).
Generally speaking, day to day responsibilities include, but not limited to....
- Overseeing daily business operations in coordination with other managers and operation team.
- Manage staff/schedule and delegate responsibility as needed (how can we all work smarter, not just harder)
- Maintain excellent customer service standards, and continue to built upon the fun, and engaging environment we have worked hard to create for front-of-house staff.
- Contribute new ideas on how to grow business. This is not a chain restaurant, your ideas will be heard and your voice truly matters.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills (and patience) to connect effectively with customers and co-workers
- Positive attitude and ethics which support our values and culture - this is a drama free space.
- Ability to manage a fast-paced, high-volume, clean, customer-focused workplace
- Strong time-management skills; ability to multi-task, prioritize, and organize
- Familiarity with reading P&L statements and experience using Excel and with basic financial calculation understanding
- Must be able to work nights and weekends. This is a restaurant after all, however we do close at 9pm during the week and 10pm on weekends - so the latest you would ever get out is around 11pm if closing, which would not be the case all the time.
- Reliable transportation-and just be a reliable person. Be the kind of employee that you would want working for you!
- Must be able to work on your feet for 10+ hours a day if needed, and work between around 60 hours a week.
Along with paid vacation comes potential for profit sharing opportunities.
Salary range = $48K or more BOE.
