General Manager

We are a growing family of high volume, casual, fun beach-side restaurants and bars in the Venice and Santa Monica areas, including the Venice Whaler, Santa Monica Whaler, Baja Venice and The Pier House.

We offer two weeks’ vacation per year, manager meal for every shift, paid sick time, medical, dental and
vision insurance and much more.

We are seeking experienced individuals with a good balance of a strong work ethic, maturity, professionalism, and high-energy personalities. Candidates must have the willingness to learn and an appetite for growth.

Preferred General Manager candidates will have the following qualifications:
 A minimum of 5 years of experience in a General Management role in a fast-paced
restaurant and bar restaurant environment.
 Must have experience in the general restaurant managerial functions; inventory and
ordering, scheduling, sales reporting, good understanding of PL principles, cash-
handling, etc.
 Must display “hands-on” leadership in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
This job does have a physical component and a great deal of floor management
activity.
 Should possess sales-building mentality and effective promotional philosophy. We
reward creative thinkers who help us build and expand our business.
 Must be a strong communicator with both staff and with corporate management. We
maintain a robust regimen of discussion, instruction, clear reporting, and feedback.
 In cooperation with the VP of Operations, develops and implements strategy for
operational management and development, meeting agreed organizational
performance plans within agreed budgets and time frames.
 Must be proactive in areas of customer relations and neighborhood outreach. We are
in constant contact with members of our communities, trying to strengthen that
bond.
 Must be comfortable with a variety of schedules. Shifts can range from early morning
openings to late night closings.
 Knowledge of Marketing, social media, and promotions.
 Experience in alcohol service-forward concepts is a must.
