The Role
We are looking for individuals with past experience managing others in educational content to help us scale our thriving tutoring community! As a Tutor Lead, you will have the unique opportunity to be on the ground floor of a new tutoring quality initiative aimed at defining how to be the best tutor possible online. Working from the comfort of your own home, you'll be a pivotal part of ensuring our tutoring sessions are both efficient and effective learning experiences for our students. You will be responsible for all aspects of managing your team of front-line tutors, including things like scheduling, attendance, quality assurance, and performance reviews.
This position will be expected to work around 40 hours a week from the hours of 4:00 pm - 11:00 pm EST and will earn $22/hour, all from the comfort of your own home office.
What You'll Do
- Ensure that every student has an exceptional experience with their tutor
- Manage and train a team of tutor employees
- Create schedules for tutors that align with staffing needs and monitor attendance
- Consistently manage tutor performance by conducting quality assurance checks on sessions, providing feedback, calculating productivity, and giving performance reviews
- Carefully monitor interactions between tutors and students and quickly and effectively address interactions of concern
- Maintain team productivity and morale and take steps to keep tutor retention strong
- Ensure that tutors are satisfied in their roles, and execute on ways to continuously increase tutor engagement
- Ensure the smooth dissemination of existing and new policies and procedures as well as departmental and corporate best-practices throughout the tutor team
- Contribute to and participate in cross-team educational initiatives to advance the development of the wider tutoring community.
- Support the learning journey of students by tutoring on our platform
- Work with the People team to identify and reward exemplary performance, and address matters of unsatisfactory performance
- Identify efficiency roadblocks and opportunities for process improvement, and escalate when appropriate
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 2-3 years of experience managing other employees, ideally in either an education setting or for front-line, customer-facing employees and teams
- Subject matter expertise in either ELA, Social Studies, Math or Science (comfortable tutoring K-8 students within said subject)
- Proven ability to work autonomously and collaborate as part of a team
- Ability to manage multiple work streams and prioritize according to business needs
- Comfort dealing with ambiguity, making decisions, and building new processes
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial or growth-oriented mindset
- Established listening, team-building, and coaching skills
- Ability to objectively evaluate challenging and/or sensitive topics with empathy and understanding.
- Comfort understanding trends in data, and making data-driven decisions
- Passion for education and community development
