Job Description
Summary
The FP&A Analyst is responsible for providing senior management with the information, analysis and forecasts required to make business decisions. The FP&A Analyst supports operational, strategic and financial decision-making at the senior level. Broadly speaking, FP&A consists of four activities: financial planning, budgeting, management and performance reporting, and forecasting/modeling. The FP&A Analyst is expected to possess both an understanding of the company’s historical performance, as well as an understanding of the key trends and assumptions that may impact future business performance. This requires a broad understanding of both accounting and business operations. This position is a member of the Accounting Department and reports to the Controller.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Prepare/support with financial and strategic plans for individual departments and the wider organization
· Build annual budgets and forecasts for different or a specific business unit(s) and consolidate into one master budget
· Analyze past financial performance
· Prepare competitor analyses
· Examine market trends along with commentary for management
· Analyze previous budgets and forecasts and perform variance analysis to explain discrepancies
· Evaluate new and existing projects, investments and assets to determine their validity and appraise their value
· Recommend improvements and use of financing structures such as debt and equity when appropriate
· Provide senior management with a forecast of the company’s profit and loss (income statement) and operating performance for the upcoming quarter and year
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field of study
· At least 2 years of FP&A or related experience (such as Financial Analyst)
· Thorough understanding of accounting and tax preparation software and databases
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills
· Proficient with NetSuite (Preferred)
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
· Project management skills
· Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
· Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
