Our greatest asset has been and will continue to be our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Financial Associate within our Business Development Team based in Houston, Texas.
Essential Job Duties:
- Work closely with the upstream business development team and Oxy's executive leadership team to develop strategies around positioning, value, tactics, and risks to advance business development activities.
- Prepare financial models, comparable trading/transaction multiples (and other valuation frameworks), presentations, and other analyses to support corporate decision-making around prospective transactions.
- Work closely with Oxy legal function to negotiate and prepare transaction documents.
- Contribute meaningfully to corporate decision-making process.
- Interface with internal and external personnel to identify and evaluate new business or transaction opportunities for Oxy.
- Support leadership as required in research projects and other needs.
Key Attributes:
- The ideal candidate will have strong quantitative and financial modeling skills, have experience with M&A and/or event driven finance transactions, and have 2-5 years of investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or similar experience.
- Meaningful background preparing oil and gas asset valuations.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint with the ability learn new software quickly.
- Strong knowledge of accounting and finance.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities/projects.
- Ability to successfully interface in a team environment with both internal and cross functional teams.
- Must be detail-oriented and possess superior analytical skills.
- Ability to independently research ad hoc projects or analysis, as assigned.

- Undergraduate degree in mathematics, finance, engineering, economics, accounting, or business; MBA or post-graduate education in in finance, accounting, or related field a plus.
