Waters Corporation is currently seeking a Field Demo Chemist/Technical Support Specialist (TSS) for the Central Sales Region based in our Southwest District, primarily serving the Houston, TX demonstration laboratory. As part of the Sales organization, this individual will help drive sales in the region.
The successful candidate will develop a keen understanding of the customer's technical needs/challenges and provide support for the sales team. This support will be in the form of demonstrations, running customer samples, and applications support using a variety of separation technologies, including HPLC, UPLC, SFC, APC, and Mass Spectrometry, coupled with our data management and Informatics solutions to address analytical challenges. This role also supports the region through pre-sales activities which may include seminars, technical presentations, and customer site visits in to prospect and develop opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Territory Account Managers, Chemistry Account Managers, and Mass Spectrometry Specialists in a pre-sales support, and post-sales support to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Provide instrumentation demonstrations, run customer samples, application support using LC, LC/MS and APC technologies to potential customers at both Waters demo labs and customer sites.
- Design and execute field activities aimed to develop and grow our regional business.
- Deliver product solutions with proof statements within project deadlines.
- Present Waters products and workflow solutions at meetings, conferences and seminars.
- Regional travel to support customers and other members of the Southwest District and Central Region.
- The role will require a minimum of 30% overnight travel
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field of scientific study required. M.S. or PhD in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related analytical science a plus.
- 5 plus years experience hands-on experience with chromatography and mass spectrometry.
- Experience with Waters' informatics products, i.e, Empower, Masslynx
- Providing technical support/troubleshoot of scientific instrumentation (UPLC, MS, LC/MS, LC/MS/MS) preferred. SFC experience is a bonus.
- Experience in developing and using LC/MS methods (LC/MS/MS preferred)
- Experienced in solving separation problems and ability to troubleshoot and maintain analytical equipment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong capability to work in a team environment.
