Summary: The Fiber Splicing lead is responsible for the terminating, splicing, bonding/grounding, documenting, and testing of all fiber optic cables within the system's fiber-optic networks and their related equipment. While performing these duties, the technician will climb utility poles and ladders, lift and carry equipment that weighs at least 75 lbs., use a variety of hand tools, and work in all types of inclement weather.

- Coordinate with OSP Engineering and construction personnel to ensure timely and accurate completion of required tasks.
- Maintain proper inventory of vehicle-based on work assignments
- Splice fibers with quality as the priority.
- Assemble splice enclosures, pedestals, and ONTs as required per job.
- Properly ground cable and components for locating and safety purposes.
- Test fiber routes once finished ensuring quality and completeness of work.
- Work with live fiber without interrupting service.
- Read prints to determine cable routes, counts, and splice points.
- Operate vehicle safely, following all safety and traffic regulations.
- Manage schedules and budgets, validate deliverables at key milestones, supervise Fiber
- preparation, and closeout documents generated and designated to the project database. Education and Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years' fiber splicing experience.Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to differentiate color codes.
- Proficient in the operation of all related fiber tools and equipment.
- Experience and knowledge of OSP engineering processes & fiber splicing techniques.
- Can manage several fiber splicing projects at once.
- Ability to communicate and present data and forecast job status accurately.
- Demonstrated fiber splicing experience with major operators in the wireless & fiber industries.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- PC proficiency including Microsoft Office, MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Willing to travel
- High energy individual with a positive attitude and must be a team player.
- Excellent written and oral communication is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as well as having a strong work ethic and a good attendance record.
