Sugar Feather Farm is a unique and humane farm located in West Berlin (Central), Vermont, operating since 2019. We specialize in breeding, raising, and caring for various fowl species, including chickens, ducks, geese, quail, turkeys, and Emus. Our farm is dedicated to preserving and maintaining these breeds while offering consumers all over the US hatching eggs, babies, and teenagers. We take a holistic approach to animal care, allowing our birds to express their natural behaviors, resulting in healthier, high-quality fowl. Our mission is to ensure these breeds endure for future generations, and we actively collaborate with Poultry Scientists and Fowl Nutritionists to provide the latest information to our customers. As a relatively new and thriving farm, there are ample opportunities for growth and development.

Job Title: Farm Crew

Job Type: Seasonal (Full-Time and Part-Time positions available)

Location: West Berlin, VT

Job Summary:

As a Farm Crew member at Sugar Feather Farm, you will be an essential part of our farm operations, assisting with various tasks related to animal care, shipping, and general farm activities. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with diverse fowl species and contribute to our mission of maintaining and preserving these breeds while providing exceptional products and services to our customers.

Responsibilities:

- Manage feeding and watering for the birds to ensure their well-being.

- Assist with egg sorting and collecting, ensuring product quality and consistency.

- Help with the care and nurturing of babies and new hatching areas.

- Participate in the preparation and coordination of shipments to customers.

- Maintain cleanliness and bedding in bird barn areas for a healthy environment.

- Perform light record-keeping to ensure organized farm operations.

- Foster positive relationships with our clients and customers in the community.

- Coordinate or assist with repairs and maintenance as needed.

Qualifications:

- Previous farm experience is helpful but not required; we welcome enthusiastic individuals eager to learn.

- Ability to lift 50+ pounds consistently and handle physically demanding tasks.

- Strong team player with a positive attitude, capable of working harmoniously with others.

- Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

- Comfortable working in various weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors.

Hours/Shifts:

- Morning and afternoon/night shifts available.

- Morning shift typically runs from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.

- Afternoon/night shifts start one hour before sundown and last approximately 3-4 hours.

- Weekend shifts are from 9 am to 2pm.

Compensation:

- This position is hourly and varies based on experience (DOE).

- Pay ranges from $13.00 to $17.00 per hour.
