The MAT Program in Erie, PA is a full-time 24-month program with 3+2 accelerated and two-year stand-alone tracks. The curriculum is provided in a problem-oriented, system-based competency format, emphasizing evidence-based practice, clinical skills, and patient-centered care. The MAT Program has available advanced technology for therapeutic modalities, motion and gait analysis, balance rehabilitation, diagnostic imaging, and patient simulation. Interprofessional collaboration is a mainstay at Gannon, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, radiological sciences, respiratory therapy, physician assistant, speech-language pathology, and biomedical engineering programs. Students participate in clinical experiences at the local universities, including Gannon's nationally recognized athletic program, five local public and private high schools, and two regional hospitals with multiple physicians' offices in general and surgical orthopedics and general practitioners. Students may also engage in immersive experiences anywhere in the country or abroad.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the transformation of MAT students to competent, compassionate, culturally sensitive, individuals who understand the application of the curriculum into practice through practical application.
- Assist with student recruitment, advising, assessment, and counseling, as determined by the Program Director.
- Assist the Program Director in delivering new student orientation to the MAT students upon entrance into the program.
- Assist the Clinical Education Coordinator in delivering clinical rotation orientation to the MAT students prior to beginning their rotations.
- Cultivate a learning-centered environment through student development and evaluation to support dynamic and engaging classroom experiences.
- Engage in scholarly activities and service that enhance student learning and advance the Athletic Training profession (research is a tenure track requirement).
- Serve as a mentor to students to create professional development plans to foster growth toward short- and long-term goals upon graduation.
- Ensure strong two-way communication to foster a positive working environment and a positive learning environment for students.
- Assist the Program Director, when appropriate, with program accreditation documentation and maintenance, including:
- Maintenance of the program's student records, including but not limited to student advising plans
- Assessment plan development, implementation, revision, and continual quality improvement measures within the MAT program
- Monitor student progress in achieving all CAATE required competencies.
- Assist in summarizing annual Alumni Survey, Preceptor Survey, Exit Survey, and Employer survey.
- Integrating, instructing, and assessing content from the CAATE Educational Standards as they are aligned with assigned courses.
- May assist other programs such as applied exercise science and public health in interdisciplinary teaching
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as an athletic trainer
- Board of Certification credential in good standing
- Licensed in good standing or eligible to obtain a license as an Athletic Trainer in Pennsylvania
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Terminal degree in an appropriate health related field (e.g., health science, athletic training, kinesiology, education etc.)
- Experience teaching in higher education
- Working knowledge of CAATE operational and educational standards
- Knowledge and experience with the accreditation process
