Responsibilities / Requirements:
- Plan, implement, create, evaluate, coordinate, and oversee the implementation of site specific EHS policies, programs, and practices.
- Develop and implement safety and industrial hygiene programs in compliance with regulation and company policy.
- Develops and implements training for compliance for health and safety programs including, but not limited to forklift training, incident reporting, waste management, hazard communications, safe working practices, and PPE.
- Purchase of sufficient supplies for the maintenance of First Aid, Eye Wash Stations.
- Maintenance of Fire Action Plan, including but not limited to Fire Extinguisher Certification and Safety, Extinguisher Safety Checks, Evacuation Procedures and Fire Response Drills.
- Approves all EHS purchases to ensure compliance with regulation and maintains accurate record of Safety Data Sheets to reflect new chemical purchases.
- Reviews new equipment, materials, and processes to assure employee safety.
- Compiles and submits required OSHA and company documentation.
- Performs hazard assessments for manufacturing activities including, but not limited to, the need for personal protective equipment (PPE) and process safety management (PSM).
- Conducts gap analysis to determine EHS priorities.
- Develops, implements, and provides EHS training as needed.
- Investigates accidents and makes recommendations for safety and operating improvements.
- Recommends improvements in policies, procedures, and equipment to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Administers, implements, and provides oversight for the PSM program.
- Evaluates workstations, including ergonomic issues, to enhance or improve working conditions.
- Manages environmental programs and permits for solid waste, air and water requirements as directed.
- Audit company facilities and aids developmental corrective actions and resolutions of identified issues in compliance with OSHA, and EPA regulations.
- Provides recommendation and assistance for health and wellness programs including Worker’s Compensation, Medical, and Drug and Alcohol Testing.
- Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation, and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field, OR five (5+) or more years of experience in a safety professional role
- Experience in an industrial, military, or manufacturing process environment
- Experience in a supervisor role OR leading a team or group
- Experience and working knowledge of OSHA regulations, compliance, and training
- Experience establishing and applying sustainable EHS systems for compliance and continuous improvement, aimed at achieving demonstrated results
- Must be a US Citizen
- Pass a drug test
- Applicants cannot have any felonies within the past 7 years and no domestic violence or any crime in which a firearm was used
- Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and OSHA
