Our greatest asset has been and will continue to be our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Air Quality Advisor/Engineer within our US Onshore Air Quality department based in Houston, Texas.
Essential Job Duties:
- Identify, develop, deploy and monitor emerging emissions technologies in support of Oxy's net Zero goals.
- Support the proper and timely preparation of emissions data to support all sustainability reporting, including preparation of accurate and efficient quarterly emissions data reports
- Manage and interpret data from various internal and external sources, such as sample analysis, emissions data, environmental monitoring data (e.g., satellite, aerial, mobile, handheld, etc.) and more.
- Support the development of Methane accounting platforms in conjunction with Oxy's Production Operations teams.
- Review forthcoming rules and regulations from the Federal and State level and provide comments on the impacts to existing operations.
- Evaluate current process and refine, as needed, work process performance standards for accuracy, consistency, timeliness and efficiency
- Work with verification/assurance providers on annual emissions verification for reporting, supporting external audit, verification and compliance requirements for all legal emissions accounting and reporting
- Work with ESG and Air Quality team members to conduct quarterly process evaluations that promote attainment of performance standards
- Drive simplification and digitization of reporting, where applicable; reducing cycle times, reworks and manual activities, while instigating controls; and supporting business initiatives and cross-functional projects
- Maintain a working knowledge of existing and proposed regulations through active participation in regulatory and industry workgroups, training, and conference attendance.
- Collaborate with members of Oxy's Re-envisioned Online Compliance System (ROCs) team to provide input and updates to calculation methodologies as requirements evolve and change.
- Participate in EMIS system user acceptance testing as needed.
Required Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical or Petroleum Engineering, Science, or a technical related degree;
- 5 years or more experience in Facilities Engineering / Air Quality with a focus on complying with federal and state rules related to emissions.
- Field and/or Plant O&G experience
- Demonstrated working knowledge of state and federal regulations that impact the oil and gas industry.
- Strong desktop computer skills using Microsoft Office and Microsoft Power Platforms. SQL knowledge is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience with data management and report preparation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong diagnostic skills and logical thought processes with the ability to identify and resolve data acquisition issues
- Experience with the various GHG reporting protocols
- Excellent written communication and oral communication skills
- Must also be able to work autonomously to successfully perform the required and expected duties with minimal direct supervision.
- Ability to interface effectively with different departments within the company as well as external organizations (regulatory agencies, contractors, consultants).
- Ability to work well across a lean, agile, matrixed team.
- Must be able to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict and sometimes simultaneous deadlines.
- Experience implementing and/or using Environmental Management Information Systems.
- Ability to create and execute data capturing processes
- Ability to read, comprehend, interpret, communicate, and consistently apply environmental rules and regulations
- Strong math, science and computer skills
- Ability to use air quality software for modeling such as Promax, E&P Tanks, GryCalc, and AP-42 methodology to prepare air permit applications
- Strong skills in process simulation and data management.
- Professional Engineering License in Texas and/or New Mexico or ability to obtain license is preferred
- Experience with environmental management information systems (EMIS) and support software (ex. Intelex, ACTs, Enviance/Cority, Essential Suites, etc.) preferred.
