Description:
This position will support the Chief Engineer in the day-to-day maintenance, and repair of the building and facility features for a 1.2 million square foot Class A office in downtown St. Paul. NO BOILERS - the building runs on district heating/cooling.
M-F, morning shifts. Ideally the first person will start around 5:30/6AM, another person 7/8AM. Eligible for OT once comfortable with the building.
Job Duties:
-The facilities tech will be expected to assist the chief engineer with completing work orders in a timely manner. Candidate will be assisting in the operation troubleshooting, diagnostics, and grounds keeping of the property. Roughly 33% of this job is property upkeep and maintaining the landscape of the building. The most important thing for this role is mechanical aptitude and attitude. This is a rare opportunity to get into commercial facility maintenance without having experience.
Minor PM work - filters, air handlers, light plumbing.
There is a snow removal contractor, but you will have to salt the grounds in the winter. Will also use a tenant sweeper around the sidewalks in the spring/summertime. Most carpentry/painting/drywall will be subbed out, but is a plus if the candidate has experience. Light plumbing duties, CAN BE TAUGHT.
-Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of building and its systems: plumbing, kitchens, roofs, drains, ground equipment and HVAC
-Assist with installs and modifications of building equipment and systems
-Replace and repair building finishes such as ceiling tiles, door hardware (huge plus!), wall paper, possibly paint walls, piping, flooring and equipment
-Respond immediately to emergency situations and customer service requests
-Inspect buildings, grounds and equipment, perform PMs when needed
-Maintain and operate fire and life safety systems, fire alarm systems and fire pumps
-Grounds clean up and snow removal when necessary
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
-basic equipment troubleshooting
- HS Diploma/GED
•Basic computer familiarity
•Able to accept and complete service requests and work orders in a computerized maintenance system.
•Good communication skills, both oral and written - this is a team environment with customer facing with the client.
