Extrusion Machine Operator (Plastic)

Position Summary:

The Extrusion Operator is the pilot of your extruder. You have ultimate authority and responsibility to the safety, quality, and production from your line. Responsibilities include accepting hand-off of assets from prior shift operator, audit and executing of process and maintenance standards, and management of material feeding to finished good production to rate and quality standards. You are responsible to hand over the line at standard and inform and report all non standard conditions to the next operator.

Shift Time: 6PM-6AM

Pay: $18 h/r with monthly bonus

What you will do (Essential Functions):

• Operate extrusion equipment to the standards.
• Refers issues/problems to lead/supervisor. Informs immediately appropriate team of non-standards conditions.
• Demonstrates & meets qualification on blending, packaging, weighing operations & fork lift.
• Demonstrates team work in all phases of operation.
• Monitors production and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Troubleshoots equipment and processing issues.
• Examines materials visually or physically to ensure conformance with established standards.
• May take samples of materials to lab for evaluations and instructions.
• Performs all required machine cleaning.
• Completes and maintains all required computer inputs.
• Responsible for data integrity.
• Documents work completed as required including logs, data reports, procedures, etc.
• Participates in training, retraining and continual improvement processes and methods.
• Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
• Supports the vision, mission and guiding principles of the company.
• Follows all rules, laws and procedures related to HS&E, ISO and other regulations.
• Other projects/duties as assigned or needed.

Skills and Abilities:

• Mechanically inclined with high school diploma. Prefer three years of extrusion operator experience in the film extrusion, blow molding, or injection molding manufacturing, or technical certification with one year of experience.
• Demonstrated experience working in quality.
• Demonstrated experience working in safety.
• Minimum three (3) years in a production environment.
• Familiarity with computers and data input.
• Ability to work any shift as needed.
• Ability to tolerate an ambiguous environment.
• Proactive mindset to drive change, question assumptions and push for innovation solutions.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage timelines and prioritize workload.
• Exceptional verbal communication and technical writing skills with an ability to effectively interact with and convey information to people who possess varying levels of understanding on applicable topics.
