UNM Student Affairs is seeking a strategic, motivated, organized, and culturally responsive professional to join a team of passionate and student-centered leaders as Executive Director for Student Support. The division of Student Affairs is comprised of student-centered units and services that are dedicated to advancing the quality, cohesiveness, and cultural relevancy of the student experience on the Albuquerque campus and beyond.

The Executive Director serves as a divisional leader and advisor to the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) with a high focus on the advancement of the quality, intentionality, collaboration, and philosophical alignment of division units and all student-service units at large. This position supports all Student Affairs units in the development and implementation of equitable, student-centered practices that lead to a high-quality, research-informed, and aligned student experience while providing direct supervision to units providing advisement, intervention, programming, and support to students including: African American Student Services, American Indian Student Services, El Centro de la Raza, the Asian/American/Pacific Islander Resource Center, the Women's Resource Center, the Community Engagement Center, and College Enrichment and Outreach Programs. As a key leader, the Executive Director will work closely with campus partners on the coordination and alignment of advising activities, the campus climate and environment for students, and the advancement of practices and resources that will improve the student experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree; at least 4 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Wide range StudentAffairs leadership experience evidenced by:

  • Knowledge of student development theories, program evaluation, and best practices in student affairs.
  • Understanding of and commitment to holistic student support and the connection to New Mexico's specific needs, gifts, and cultural capital.
  • Strong strategic planning and organizational skills, with the ability to align divisional goals and objectives with the broader goals of the university and the needs of the community.

Extensive managementexperience and skill within student affairs or student centered universityunit, including but not limited to:

  • Strategic budget planning and management.
  • Program assessment and revision derived from data driven decision making.
  • Excellent communication skill (written and verbal) with the ability adapt based on audience.
  • Ability to create and maintain partnerships and collaborations across various campus and community stakeholders.

Ability to lead andmotivate staff, with experience in supervision and professional development ofdepartment and unit leaders.

Ability to create asupportive, inclusive, and culturally responsive work environment.
