The Executive Director will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for Related Affordable Foundation staff, programs, expansion, and execution of the Foundation’s mission. Other key duties include board governance, community outreach and financial management. This role will report to the Vice President, Community Engagement. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure the RAF remains in compliance with all 501(c)(3) rules and regulations, including the filing of all necessary forms and other documentation in conjunction with outside parties such as auditors and tax return preparers
- Oversee and report on Foundation’s results to Board of Directors, which have final approval authority over all grant and scholarship awards
- Responsible for planning, organization and direction of Foundation’s operations and programs
- Ensure effective systems to track scaling progress, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to internal and external stakeholders
- Lead annual budget review, monthly reports and periodic forecast updates
- Work with Corporate Communications and Marketing to craft compelling online content about Foundation funded programs
- Collaborate with Related Affordable Acquisition, Construction, Portfolio Management, & Property Management teams and various stakeholders
- Travel to affordable communities to ascertain residents’ needs as well as program/award impact
- Actively engage and energize nonprofit and resident services partners
- Collaborate with VP, Community Engagement to scope organization-wide, cross-functional impact
- Provide guidance and direction to direct report, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance
- $100,000 - $150,000 / year
- Annual performance based bonus

- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Public Policy or equivalent field
- Five (5)+ years of relevant experience in nonprofit, philanthropic or public/government sector
- Deep understanding of 501(c)(3) organizations and their legal and practical implications
- Proven track record of successful team and cross-functional project management
- Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships
- Must be able to work well in an entrepreneurial environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A strong passion for social impact, economic mobility, volunteerism and the preservation of affordable housing
- Ability to travel to property locations, both locally and out of state
