Ardent Staffing Solutions is currently recruiting a dynamic leader to become the next Executive Director of a large robust, regional chamber of commerce supporting more than 400 businesses, non-profit firms, individuals and government partners in Central Massachusetts.
The ideal candidate will be a self‐motivated leader with passion and vision to grow an established and vibrant institution within our community. The candidate must be engaging and inspiring to the organization and all its stakeholders. Additionally, the Executive Director must be highly motivated and dedicated to the mission and vision of the chamber and able to articulate the value proposition to all constituent groups while shaping its future!
*****This is NOT a remote or hybrid position and will require daily, in-person work in Marlborough, MA*****
Under direction of the Board of Directors (the “Board”), the President is responsible for:
- Managing the Chamber, creating and implementing work plans to achieve the Chamber's short and long term goals.
- Mange the day‐to‐day operations of the Chamber office.
- Provide leadership in the development of the Chamber, acquisition of resources, management and fiscal health through managing of staff and evaluation of organizational efficiency.
- Continue to execute the plan for diversification, community, advocacy and growth for membership.
- Effectively communicate, promote and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders including community leaders, the business community, Chamber members, the Board and beyond.
- Provide professional leadership, feedback, communication to all staff and volunteers to assure alignment with the Chamber’s Mission and goals
- Entertain suggestions, proposals and requests from Chamber members and then translate them into action consistent with the mission and policies of the Chamber.
Education, Skills and Experience for the Chamber President:
- Local Candidates with a strong familiarity with Central Massachusetts - Strongly preferred. This is not a remote position and at this time there is no allowance for relocation expenses.
- Strong, dynamic, engaging personality with the ability to inspire and lead with a vision.
- Previous executive or senior management position with a mid‐or large‐sized chamber is required
- Demonstrated ability and desire to interact with people of diverse backgrounds and interests
- Strong leadership characteristics (Organization, Negotiation, and Diplomacy)
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in business administration, public administration, marketing or related field and/or completion of the U.S. Chamber Institute program or similar organization for development training
Duties and Responsibilities for the Chamber President:
- Maintain a functional office with special emphasis on providing a professional business office environment.
- Manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously in an organized and timely manner.
- Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, management, performance evaluation and termination of all paid staff, interns and consultants.
- Work with the Board in identifying fundraising activities or sources of funds for the Chamber.
- Oversee the Chamber finances and fiscal reporting (coordinating with the Treasurer) to consistently keep the board and committee chairs informed with accurate and timely financials.
- Utilize a variety of communication including social media to promote the Chamber’s strategic plan, yearly goals, and sponsorships.
- Promote Chamber image, activities and events along with quality customer service to all members, visitors and other community constituents.
- Develop and maintain beneficial relationships with other local non‐profit organizations, Chambers of Commerce, Tourism Agencies, and city/town government entities.
- Perform public relations and public speaking related to the Chamber’s interests.
