About the Opportunity:
The role will be responsible for the permitting, site leadership, venue relationships, budget management, and overall delivery of 8-10 Tough Mudder events annually.

 

We are seeking a flexible, positive, and experienced events professional who is ready to lead a team of up to 25 individuals during an event weekend to create a memorable experience for thousands of customers each year. This position will attend planning trips for each event, be the primary point of contact for local agencies and permitting authorities, manage the site travel coordination, and oversee the event operation along with the production crew that delivers it.

 

A successful Event Producer will be a generalist, who can synthesize obstacle construction, course design, festival setup, sponsor integration, venue relationships, and local regulations. This position involves complex stakeholder management, personnel management, project planning, and risk management with multiple moving parts and a challenging delivery timescale. There will be extensive travel and weekend work required in this role for the effective planning and delivery of assigned events.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver a portfolio of events that meet or exceed safety, financial, timeline and customer satisfaction targets, measured by mutually agreed KPI’s.

  • Management of a large event delivery team made up of full time employees, contractors and hired staff for build, execution, and breakdown.

  • Ensure safety is a key part of the production team’s culture and is considered in all elements of the operation.

  • Enforce site safety standards and obstacle construction standards; Intimately familiar with all event risk mitigations and ensures they are applied regardless of site conditions.

  • Development of event operations plans, including ownership of all event documentation for a given event suite.

  • Responsibility over budget management for an event suite; manage to financial goals and conduct post-event and post-season budget reconciliation.

  • Interface with multiple local jurisdictions to ensure that event permitting obligations are met and all necessary event permissions are granted.

  • Collaborate with Operations Manager to establish event course and festival designs, obstacle selections, and logistics needs.

  • Responsible for maintaining a collaborative relationship across all company departments, synthesizing needs related to product, marketing, partnerships, workforce, supply chain, and others.

  • Liaison with key stakeholders in-market, including vendors, city officials, and permitting authorities.

  • Act as the main point of contact with the venue communicating all build timelines, and coordination of any specific venue needs

  • Provide clear communication and pertinent event information to all staff members attending, coordinate staff arrivals, departures, and accommodations.

  • Senior leader on site, and face of the brand to all third party stakeholders.

  • Manage event day radio as the head of all event communication traffic and direct resources as needed.

  • Responsible for providing clear and comprehensive pre- and post-event reports to company leadership.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of event, project, or sports management experience.

  • Experience of mass participation event planning preferred.

  • Ability to work independently on projects with minimal supervision.

  • Highly detailed- an individual comfortable suggesting more efficient ways of delivering event services after working to quickly comprehend established operations.

  • Valid Driver’s license is required.

  • Experience working with a budget, and adhering to financial goals

  • Line management experience, and experience leading teams.

  • CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.

  • Equipment operations certification is preferred.

  • Strong project management and planning skills, ideally in the sports events industry.

  • Strong critical thinker and communicator.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Team player with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Creative problem-solver and conflict manager.

  • Focused on meeting objectives and delivering results.

  • Proven ability to maintain calm and clear decision making in high pressure situations.

  • Project management and planning skills.

  • Proven ability to manage and motivate large teams during difficult circumstances.

  • Experience managing budgets and adhering to financial standards

  • Can work remotely within the United States; must be willing to travel at least 50-60% of the time.

  • Willingness to be working away, often up to 10-14 days at a time to oversee event delivery.
