Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center is seeking anEvent Operations Managerto join our team!

At Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center we have several managers within our Food and Beverage Departments. This management position is responsible for the supervision of all Conference Center operations with a focus morning events and Ohio dining. This position works cooperatively with all other departments and serves as an active contributor to the Food and Beverage management team by supporting all F&B outlets and ensuring that standards of quality are maintained while operating within the budget and maximizing profitability.

Our property is one of the largest venues in Columbus. During the week we hold a wide variety of meetings and during the weekend we will host 100+ weddings in 2022! Tucked in a 15-acre park-like setting just North of Columbus, Ohio, our property offers a complete collection of services and amenities for an all-inclusive experience. Our hotel has 193 stylishly appointed guest rooms and suites delight leisure travelers, while our 45,000 square feet of customizable meeting spaces are sophisticated yet comfortable and offer state-of-the-art technology to create a dynamic setting for meetings and special events.

Essential Functions:

  1. All banquet staff will report to the Event Operations Manager.
  2. Supervise daily F&B operations, delegating and assigning duties and responsibilities to staff members and monitoring their performance to ensure accuracy, timely service, superior levels of performance and dependable and friendly service to clients and guests. Inspect individual’s work and work areas, write and conduct performance reviews. The position also requires the need for planning and coordinating the event regarding floor plan assignments, décor, etc.
  3. Manage emails, departmental paperwork such as the Breaks and Lunch Plans, Interdepartmental paperwork such as BEO’s, Amenity Forms, 10-day Forecast, etc. Complete and/or manage the completion of daily reports, paperwork, guest receipts and cash for and with the accounting department.
  4. Develop and ensure the proper execution of the schedule.
  5. Interview and hire new service members. Coordinate all training of current employees and new hire employees on specific job duties ensuring knowledgeable service, consistency and quality standards are met.
  6. Perform all accountabilities in a timely and efficient manner including but not limited to inventories, consumptions, banquet checks, scheduling.
  7. Interact with guests and maintain strong client relations ensuring that meeting and event specific requests are communicated and executed successfully. Resolve guest concerns quickly, consistently, and professionally making sure all situations are promptly communicated.
  8. Maintain all food and beverage equipment, china, glass, and silverware with the other Event Operations Managers to a predetermined PAR. Oversee storage, distribution and sanitation procedures including safety guidelines and OSHA requirements of said equipment.
  9. Collaborate with other Department Managers on organization of storage areas on property.
  10. Work with other Department Managers to ensure all scheduled meetings rooms are set as indicated on BEOs including tables, chairs, equipment, ancillary supplies, and A/V.
  11. Manages specialized conferencing services to assure availability, maintenance, and proper storage to assure IACC standards. (i.e. Ergonomic Chairs, Team Tables).
  12. Gain approval and place all orders for rental needs (tables, chairs, linen, etc.) as well as supplies (water, pads, pens and candy).
  13. Acts as the property MOD (Manager On Duty) during shifts when needed
  14. Must be available to work any shift, weekends, and holidays as business dictates.
  15. Comply with all company rules and regulations.
  16. Must be able to work in different types of environments including outdoor, off-site, and indoor functions.
  17. Interpret and communicate to employees the details of the banquet event orders.
  18. Work with our clients the day of the event by reviewing final guarantees, room setup, and other event details, as well as making sure expectations are being met.
  19. Coordinate vendor needs the day of the event.
  20. Manage and update client information, primarily final billing in Delphi as needed.
  21. Act as liaison between Sales, Planning, and the Operations Team by disseminating appropriate information as it relates to the meeting and/or event.
  22. Additional duties as assigned by management.


Physical Requirements:

These physical demands represent the physical requirements necessary for an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the described essential functions of the position.

  • Position requires large amounts of time spent standing or walking
  • Heavy workloads requiring the ability exert up to 100 pounds of force and the ability to regularly lift 55 lbs.

Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. College degree preferred
  2. At least two years of experience in a supervisory role in a fast-paced hotel and/or conference center with food and beverage operation
  3. Outstanding organizational skills, and attention to detail
  4. Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  5. Advanced knowledge of Food and Beverage operations and operational equipment
  6. Excellent customer service and leadership skills
  7. Professional, assertive and positive with a proven ability to develop and lead in a team environment.
  8. The ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment and adjust quickly to changing priorities.
  9. Must possess computer literacy skills in Windows. Knowledge of Delphi preferred but not required.


Travel

Local and regional travel may be required resulting in overnight trips. This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid Ohio Driver’s license. The successful candidate would have to provide proof that s/he has a valid driver’s license upon being hired.
