A well-established full-service law firm in Downtown Seattle is looking for an experienced Estates, Probates, and Trusts Paralegal with at least 8+ years of experience to join a small, but mighty team. Competitive compensation, beautiful office, and an even better view of Downtown, Seattle!

Our client is a full-service law firm of about 30 attorneys who are focused on providing business, construction, real estate, and insurance legal advice. This firm also does a fair bit of work in Estate Planning, Probates, and Trusts, as well. Not only do they have great reviews for their service from their clients, but attorneys and legal staff that work here boast about the positive and collaborative culture, compensation, and benefits package! They are located in the heart of Downtown Seattle, and the office comes with stellar views!
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
A senior Paralegal at the firm is looking to retire at the end of the year, so the opportunity has become available for an experienced Paralegal to join a small but mighty EP team! The ideal candidate will have at least 8+ years of Estate Planning, Probates, and Trusts experience in Washington, experience in drafting estates, opening probates from beginning to end with little to no supervision, filing court documents, and more. Candidates must be familiar with ProLaw and Gem's (or any other Estate & Gift Tax software), and Microsoft Excel. Candidates also must have strong communication skills and experience with client management.
This is a hybrid opportunity, not eligible for remote. Out-of-state candidates will not be considered.
The salary is between $75,000 - $100,000K/ yr depending on experience and other qualifications. Benefits include 100% employer-paid medical and dental insurance, transit and cell phone plan subsidy, 401K, profit sharing, PTO, and more!
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss cases or projects
- Coordinate the transfer of assets into trusts, including bank accounts, stock transfers, and real estate deeds
- Assist the Trustee in making distributions
- Draft pleadings appointing or substituting trustees
- Prepare a schedule of allocations to trusts under will
- Prepare and maintain a calendar system, noting important estate administration deadlines and court appearances
- Determine whether the decedent left a will and, if it exists, the location of the will
- Obtain the will and draft the necessary documents to file with the probate court
- Obtain and review income tax returns and other financial records
- Maintain estate records
- Obtain federal and state tax clearance
- Collect documentation for audits of tax returns
- Draft deeds and real estate excise tax affidavits
- Work with various counties across the Washington state
THE REQUIREMENTS
- Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field; Bachelor's degree
- Paralegal certificate
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience as a Paralegal with experience in Estate Planning, Probates, and Trusts
- Experience with Washington counties
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with clients
- Experience with ProLaw, Gem's software, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to prioritize and organize numerous tasks as assigned and complete them in a timely manner
