Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Information Technology, the university's central Information Technology group, is looking to add an Enterprise Cybersecurity Architect to the Chief Technology Officer's Enterprise Architecture team.

The Enterprise Cybersecurity Architect will work in concert with the other Enterprise Architects, the campus Cybersecurity group, other central IT areas, School / College/ Division/ Center IT and business stakeholders, and key external partners including UW-Health.

ABOUT THE GROUP
Enterprise Architecture (EA) plays a role in setting and facilitating the direction of the university's major information and technology efforts. EA contributions and assignments are matched to skills, experience, interest, and strategic need.

The Office of Cybersecurity supports the campus by leading and managing campus efforts to reduce risk. Strategies include appropriate handling of data, continued diagnostics, cybersecurity awareness training, and good processes and procedures to manage our intellectual property and other sensitive information.

Enterprise Architecture and Cybersecurity are collaborators focused on guiding colleagues across campus to architect, design, and build cybersecurity tools and processes relied upon by our world-class research university. Currently we are focusing on adopting zero trust principles and deploying zero trust architecture-based solutions.

YOUR ROLE
You will help set the course for our campus cybersecurity infrastructure that supports leadership vision, understanding the different software, hardware, and processes that encompasses our cybersecurity program. You will work to understand current capabilities and roadmap to future desired capabilities. You will build trust relationships and strategize with our partners to understand that vision, plan and articulate it, and help make it a reality. Responsibilities: Develops and maintains an enterprise information technology (IT) architecture framework to ensure integration of all technology components supporting the academic, research, and administrative programs of the institution.
  • 10% Participates in the development or evolution of the enterprise architecture program and functions including business architecture, information architecture, application portfolio, and technical architecture
  • 10% Participates in the design and function of governance activities associated with ensuring enterprise architecture compliance
  • 15% Assesses the institutional IT ecosystem for gaps and recommends new technologies and solutions
  • 10% Collaborates with IT functional areas to ensure understanding and support of enterprise architecture goals and processes
  • 25% Identifies and plans for the development of shared IT infrastructure and middleware. Provides strategic consultation to institutional stakeholders to integrate enterprise architecture principles and practices with business and IT decision making
  • 10% Assists faculty and staff in accessing, understanding, and applying the architecture to specific instructional technology, research support, and administrative systems decisions
  • 20% Leads collaborative efforts and assists with architecting cybersecurity infrastructure (e.g. incident response, assessments, cybersecurity related software applications, authentication, hardware devices, zero-trust strategies, new trends, etc).

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field preferred or applicable experience.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
-Experience with increasing responsibility in architecting complex cybersecurity infrastructure and systems at scale.
-Experience evaluating a range of cybersecurity solutions and products.
-Demonstrated experience contributing to projects involving overlapping technologies, their dependencies, and the role each serves in helping build the suite of cybersecurity services.
-Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to work across a large & diverse organization.

Preferred Qualifications
-Experience with applicable frameworks and methodologies, including enterprise architecture.
-Knowledge of standards bodies and experience applying new or emerging standards in architecting cybersecurity infrastructure and systems solutions; ex: NIST, CIS, PCI, etc.
-Experience specifically with Microsoft, Cisco, and/or Palo Alto zero-trust cybersecurity architectures.
-Experience handling multiple cybersecurity projects and/or deadlines, each requiring critical thinking skills and prioritization.
-Experience using analytical skills to diagnose complex cybersecurity situations.

License/Certification:

Required
CISSP - Cert Information Systems Security Prof
Current Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent.

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

Work in this position can be done either partially remote or fully on-site. Remote work does require at least 3 on-site days per month and is subject to an approved remote work agreement (RWA) agreement. Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer.

Minimum $112,200 Maximum $160,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
