Summary:
Provide technical support to engineering and technical personnel by performing studies and tests of substantial variety. Evaluate and present results necessary to facilitate the proper analysis and integrity of engineering projects. Provide design support for substations and electrical facilities. Track and maintain equipment and assets for assigned projects.
Education & Applicable Fields:
Bachelor s or Associate s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Drafting, Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Level 3
" With an applicable Bachelor s Degree, 6 years of experience is required.
" With an applicable Associate s Degree, 8 years of experience is required.
" Without a degree, 10 years of work experience is required.
" Experience must be consistent with the specific requirements of engineering, computer science or a related field.
Typical tasks may include but are not limited to:
" Draft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects and to ensure conformance to specifications.
" Calculate dimensions, square footage, profile and component specifications, and material quantities using calculator or computer.
" Read and review project blueprints and structural specifications to determine dimensions of structure or systems and material requirements.
" Confer with project team/manager to determine project details such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field conditions.
" Draft/develop plans and estimate costs for installation of systems, utilization of facilities, or construction of structures.
" Develop/draft cost estimates for assigned projects.
" Prepare reports and document project activities and data.
" Perform simulation studies and document findings in formal reports.
" Compile technical results in summary form such as tables, reports, and graphics to support engineering staff.
" Develop, operate and maintain databases related to engineering/scientific applications.
" Assist in the review and modification of One Line Diagrams and design drawings, using MicroStation CAD software.
" Prepare and process work statements, procurement requests, detail sheets, receiving reports and invoices for various contracts.
" Perform field research by traveling to remote sites to collect physical data.
" Receive, maintain and distribute drawings and other technical documentation.
" Support and maintain metering equipment.
" Track and recommend new technologies and equipment
" Track and maintain inventory, assets and equipment.
" Develop and maintain checklists, processes and other engineering documentation.
" Provide education and training to other technicians and other organizational personnel on processes, documentation, equipment use, systems, or other assigned engineering activities.
Note: Final drafts, documents or other products must be reviewed and approved by a BPA Federal employee with the authority to do so.
