Summary/Objective: The Engineering Support Technician will be responsible for providing the Additive Manufacturing Research and Development Team with technical support to help produce prototype and production components. The Engineering Support Technician’s primary role will be to setup 3D printing systems, perform regular maintenance on 3D printing systems, carry out 3D prints, handle and conduct post processing of fabricated parts, and perform various inspections on fabricated parts.  The Engineering Support Technician will be exposed to new and unique 3D printing systems and will be expected to be willing to learn and troubleshoot the development of printing processes on these new technologies.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:

  1.  Perform standard maintenance on printing systems.
  2. Conduct resin, part, and machine changeovers.
  3. Properly handle, prepare, and store resins and other hazardous materials.
  4. Process 3D CAD model and ensure 3D printing machine is properly setup.
  5. Carryout successful printing of 3D parts.
  6. Utilize work instructions, prints, and other engineering documentation to carryout standard work.
  7. Use inspection tools to perform dimensional measurements and verify acceptable print accuracy.
  8. Document and store necessary process information, data, etc.
  9. Review processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  10. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve machine printing issues.
  11. Help ensure printing area/lab are clean, orderly, and safe.
  12. The responsibilities as defined are intended to serve as a general guideline for this position.
  13. Associates may be asked to perform additional tasks depending on strengths and capabilities.

Required Experience:

  1.  2-5 years’ experience in a technical manufacturing environment.
  2. Ability to setup and troubleshoot complex manufacturing equipment.
  3. Independent, self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Experience reading product prints.
  5. Data analysis and interpretation.
  6. Analytical and creative thinker, problem solver, result-orientated and focused.
  7. Highly organized, ability to prioritize a varied and fast-changing workload.
  8. Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with cross functional groups.
  9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, creative mindset.

Preferred Education:

  1. 2 yr. Technical Degree/Certificate.
  2. Experience using 3D CAD such as SolidWorks.
  3. Experience using 3D printers (such as FDM or DLP) and 3D printing slicing software.
