Essential Responsibilities and Duties

As a Design Engineer, you will provide technical input and direction to the design and development of product concepts. You will work in a team environment applying your knowledge of engineering principles and the physical sciences to develop new products.

The engineer's responsibility within a project to develop this equipment will be conceptualizing ideas, technically evaluating feasible concepts (component/feature stress analysis and operating limitations), producing engineering CAD models and drawings, testing prototypes, and redesigning iterations based on trial feedback. The engineer will be expected to monitor their project(s) during the entire lifecycle which could last from a few weeks up to several months.

Detailed Tasks
  • Analyze, develop, maintain products
  • Use creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in developing products
  • Assist in identifying and organizing requirements with the stakeholders
  • Design, produce analyses, mathematical models and draw design conclusions
  • Responsible for generating engineering product file including CAD models, assembly layouts, and component drawings along with supporting design calculations.
  • Participate in global cross-functional teams, including marketing, designers, manufacturing, sales, and procurement.
  • Document test results, analyze test data, write test reports, and develop internal client presentations.
  • Work with the test and evaluation engineers to design testing fixtures to be used in new product evaluation.

Experience and Competencies
  • Junior-level status, or above, working toward a bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Creativity, curiosity, product vision, problem-solving and High Mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with 3D CAD is a must, preferably in Solid Edge or equivalent.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written.
  • Commitment to a full time (40 hours a week) Summer internship experience in Houston, TX.
