The Station Design Team is responsible for planning, designing, managing construction and asset lifecycle for large Station projects, district regulators, commercial/industrial meter sets, odorization and metering projects requiring a higher level of technical expertise and project management. The Station Design supervisor provides direct supervision for this team, including mentoring, training and guidance on designs and construction practices. Provides leadership and primary design responsibility for large station and special projects as necessary to meet department and Company goals. Evaluates new vendors, materials, equipment, and construction practices as appropriate to meet project goals. Provides guidance on station and meter design to the Station Design team and other workgroups to ensure design consistency and safe operating practices.
- Provides direct supervision of the Station Design Team, including mentoring, training, and design reviews.
- Provides engineering design and oversight for large, complex regulation and metering stations.
- Works closely with internal and external customers to provide technical support for measurement, regulation, and gas quality.
- Authors and reviews Gas Operations Procedures, and trains and mentors in safe operating practices. Able to train others in design of safe
- Reports on odorant usage and odorizer status. Manages odorometer placement and reviews. Provides design expertise and support to odorizer technicians.
- Monitors gas quality and placement of gas quality measurement equipment, providing reports, designs, and develops new processes and procedures as necessary.
- Assists with authoring engineering standards, standard designs, and procedures.
- Provides technical engineering research and expertise for the evaluation of new and existing meters, regulators, electronic equipment, odorizers, line heaters and other equipment as necessary to achieve design goals.
- Provides technical engineering support for operations & maintenance manuals, major facility readiness, and improving field operation methods for compressors and specialty equipment.
- Responds to a variety of inquiries and concerns related to measurement and gas quality from customers.
- Supports operational response teams and their planning efforts during winter operations.
- Supports Company’s commitment to a culture of safe work practices.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in mechanical, civil or gas engineering or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- 7 years engineering experience, including construction-related or utility construction/installation including 1 year in a leadership role. Additional experience required for level 4.
- Seasoned, independent engineer, with the ability to work with minimal direction, applying leadership skills to day-to-day engineering activities.
- Experience supervising and mentoring a technical design team, including training, guidance, and support.
- Oversees and monitors departmental operations and employee activity in support of business objectives.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role overseeing and coordinating multiple functions to facilitate, coordinate and complete projects.
- Experience in measurement, gas quality, and odorization for the natural gas industry preferred.
- Demonstrated skill in organizing multiple tasks and managing time effectively to meet deadlines and balance priorities.
- Knowledge and experience in the application of the following: federal pipeline safety rules, utility construction standards, and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, government representatives and contractor personnel on technical matters governing construction projects.
- Ability to visit and access construction and other worksite locations as required.
- Possess/maintain a valid Oregon or Washington driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

Base salary range: $101,200.00 - $144,200.00 (Level 3) or $113,350.00 - $161,550.00 (Level 4) per year, depending on qualifications
Annual Target Incentive: Level 3, 12.0% target
Level 4, 12.0% target
Targets are calculated using eligible earnings during plan year participation. Payout, if earned, is based on company and individual performance for each plan year and may range from 0% – 200% of target. Targets are subject to change in subsequent plan years. Must be employed by September 30 in order to receive any prorated payout.
