Must have valid EMT license within 18 months of employment, and maintain the license through appropriate state and national registries with valid driver's license in good standing with the state required.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities / Essential Functions
1. Perform front line mechanic inspections, preventive maintenance and electrical repairs on both diesel and gasoline vehicles
2. Respond to vehicle breakdowns in the field when requested
3. Operate Company vehicles in accordance with Company policy and safe driving practices
4. Complete all required vehicle repair and maintenance paperwork and documentation neatly, correctly, and in a timely manner.
5. Repair and maintain vehicles correctly, and in a quality and timely manner
6. Respond promptly to road calls, accurately diagnose, and perform quality repairs
7. Maintain a safe and clean work area
8. Thoroughly, promptly, neatly, and accurately document vehicle repairs and maintenance including a complete accounting of all labor hours, parts, and materials used
9. Provide excellent customer service and maintain a respectful working relationship with all fleet and operations personnel; display professional conduct with outside suppliers and contacts
10. Adhere to Company and OSHA safety guidelines
11. Identify and report existing and potential safety concerns
12. Responds to calls within time guidelines and delivers care appropriate to needs of patient within basic and advanced life support guidelines.
13. Maintains competency assisting paramedic / intermediate technician in delivery of emergency medical care requiring the use of suction, immobilization equipment, intravenous infusions, medications, cardiac monitors/defibrillator/pacer and performance of other skills within scope of practice.
14. Participates in continuous education program to improve competence in ambulance service and operations.
15. Working knowledge of city / county geography and ability to safety drive an ambulance under emergency conditions.
16. Completes patient care reports at time of care delivery and accurately documents care.
17. Adheres to facility guidelines along with state / federal laws, regulations and guidelines for emergency medical services.
18. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with local pre-hospital providers, hospital and within the community that is served.
19. Able to lift and move patients as required to provide optimum care.
20. Communicates with receiving facility to receive medical direction and provide critical information.
21. Communicates with call coordinators and / or dispatch to receive call data.
22. Perform basic patient care with minimal supervision and within established policies on all age groups within the Emergency Department, such as but not limited to vital signs, venipuncture within hospital guidelines.
QualificationsLicense or Certification:
Licensure & Certification: Emergency Medical Technician in the state of Alabama required within 18 months of employment.
2 ASE Certifications in automotive or truck series: brakes, steering/suspension preferred.
