JOB TITLE: Employment Readiness Coach

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing professional career development and pre-Employment Readiness services to participants. Develops work experience and job placement opportunities with targeted employment partners. Performs responsible job search training activities in a classroom setting that provides Youth Service participants with the ability to effectively seek employment, post-secondary connections, and exposure to internship opportunities. Develop and expand employer relationships and opportunities with quality employers with a focus on employers who can hire candidates and offer living wage opportunities and promotion/career growth as a productive team member and collaborator that is flexible and resourceful.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designs and facilitates career development and life skills workshops including self-assessment, goal setting, workplace conduct and appearance, resume writing, job search strategies, networking, interviewing and other related subjects.
- Establish strong relationships with Construction and Healthcare industry associations and employers to develop sector related job opportunities for constituents of YouthBuild Program
- Schedule frequent employer visits with hiring managers to promote community engagement and hiring opportunities.
- Take the lead on collecting outstanding placement and retention documents (i.e., paystub and employment verification).
- Real time data entry and milestone tracking in both internal and external data basis.
- Maintains a functional knowledge of economic and job market trends and demands and incorporates knowledge into job readiness training modules.
- Responsible for the creation, publication, and distribution of the monthly workshop schedule of events. This includes coordinating partner agency-facilitated workshops conducted onsite. Events will be periodically scheduled and delivered during evening hours and on weekends.
- Coordinate on-site and off-site employer partnership, guest speaker, and worksite visit presentations.
- Develop and expand employer relationships and opportunities with quality employers with a focus on employers who can hire candidates and offer living wage opportunities and promotion/career growth.
- Contributes to the team effort by performing other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university preferred or combination of education and experience.
- 2-3 years of experience working with young adults in a non-mandated program in a community-based setting.
- Job development and placement experience required.
- Experience in planning and conducting training sessions or workshops.
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications
- Knowledge and understanding of instructional and classroom techniques.
- Knowledge and understanding of Launchpad and the Workforce Development Cloud
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to plan and organize effectively.
- Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Must possess and provide a valid Michigan Driver's license. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule and have access to reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time, and have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a phone, computer keyboard, and other office equipment. Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. - This job operates in a normal school environment with a noise level, which is at times, moderately loud with little discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust and the like. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
