  1. TITLE: Elementary PE Paraprofessional/Title I Paraprofessional
    This position is scheduled for 29 hours per week during the school year. The remaining of the 23-24 school year will be paid on an hourly basis. Limited Full-Time benefits (PERSI, paid leave) will start at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year.
  2. QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Demonstrated knowledge relative to teaching the basics of PE.
    2. Ability to organize instructional activities, promotional activities, and general program management activities.
    3. Ability to work with staff, students, and the public.
    4. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory.
    5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
    6. Minimum 48 core college credits or a minimum score of 460 on the ParaPro Praxis.
    7. Knowledge and skill in the teaching and use of math and reading including the ability to pronounce vowels, consonants, phrases, and works in a phonetically correct manner.
    8. Abililty to administer standardized and other diagnostic tests.
    9. Demonstrated aptitud for the work to be performed.
    10. Ability t work with staff, students, and the public.
    11. Computer knowledge and experience with the word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, etc.
    12. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory.

  3. REPORTS TO: Building Administrator.
  4. JOB GOALS:
    To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.
    To develop in each student an enjoyment of art and skills working in a variety of mediums.
  5. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Prepares and delives lessons in accordance with the district PE curriculum.
    2. Teaches the basics of PE-motor skills, movement, strategies and tactics.
    3. Helps students achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical fitness
    4. Correlates PE with other aspects of the curriculum, such as language arts, social studies, science, and art
    5. Works with the Building Administrator to provide appropriate PE instruction..
    6. Encourages and motivates the enjoyment of various physical fitness activities by providing varied opportunities.
    7. Works with other PE staff in planning and preparing activities and lessons for classes.
    8. Assists classroom teachers in coordinating the PE curriculum.
    9. Attends inservice classes, building meetings, and district meetings as requested
    10. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
    11. Has regular and predictable attendance.
  6. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Administers reading and math tests to identify the level of student achievement.
    2. Works with the classroom teacher and Building Administrator to determine the instructional needs of each Title I student.
    3. Works with small groups of students and with individual students in reading and math..
    4. Maintains student files as requested and required by the needs of federal, state and local guidelines to track student progress.
    5. Assists the Federal Programs Office in gathering a variety of data that is needed for reporting to state and/or federal agencies.
    6. Attends inservice classes, building meetings, monthly program meetings and district meetings.
    7. Prepares tutoring area for instructional activities and constructs learning materials.
    8. Attends Parent Teacher Conferences for Title I students as requested.
    9. Operates equipment (i.e. tape recorders, VCR's, overhead projectors and copy machines).
    10. Assists students on arrival and departure from tutoring area.
    11. Designs tutoring schedule for working with qualified Title I students.
    12. Orders materials and supplies through the Building Administrator.
    13. Communicates with parents and families as directed by teacher or administrator.
    14. Maintains accurate records to assist in compiling data for a variety of reports required by state and federal agencies.
    15. Participates in the school as a regular part of the staff and accepts supervision and other duties as requested.
    16. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
    17. Has regular and predictable attendance.
    18. Performs all other duties as assigned.
  7. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    This is a limited full time scheduled for 29 hours per week. Benefits will be in accordance with Board Policy. This position has two different pay grades. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 5 and a Grade 6 per hour depending on education and experience.
    This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The "employment at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.
  8. EVALUATION:
    Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
    This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty.
