Title: Electrical Technician – Test Lab and Repair
Location: GE Transportation (A Wabtec Company), Erie, PA
Job Description:
We have a need for a development technician to support and manage electrical component and systems testing for Locomotive and Off-Highway vehicle production. The technician will interface with Wabtec and local suppliers to execute assigned projects for the testing of electro-mechanical systems. High voltage testing and control systems experience is a bonus!
Responsibilities:
- The qualified technician will be responsible for validation testing of converter and power electronic components.
- Install components onto the test stands and perform testing.
- Support engineers with test plan creation and related functions (layouts, stands, fixtures, etc.)
- Use equipment to measure, track and store data for test results.
- Review drawings for electrical system layouts for current transformers, IGBTs, GTOs, Sensors, Inverter Assemblies, Bus Bars and Circuit Breakers, etc.
Desired Skills:
- Experience specifically in electrical or electromechanical assembly and test.
- Familiarity with test development applications and processes.
- An understanding of control logic function and its interaction between major electrical components.
- Able to learn and execute testing to create workable solutions for electrical component design.
- Proficiency with a 3D modeling suite and knowledge of finite element software.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex system, subsystem, and component level issues..
- Results oriented and self-motivated with an adaptable attitude to become an interchangeable team member.
- Ability and willingness to work "hands-on" in Test Labs and on locomotives or off-highway trucks with high HP (1000 KVA), medium voltage (2 KV) and high current (10 KA) systems.
- Ability to work safely with high voltage/current test systems.
Qualifications/Requirements:
AS in a technological discipline or multiple years of hands-on experience with electrical mechanical diagnostics and Repair.
