Job Description
Great company with outstanding benefits seeks a hybrid of industrial electrical estimating with the ability to step in as PM as needed. All work is local to the DFW area. Salary range is $100-$115k Plus bonus and great benefits. Responsibilities include:
- “Quarterback” potential & awarded projects from inception to design completion.
- Prepare accurate and detailed project estimates and labor and material take-offs, including structural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines.
- Develop relationships with sub-contractors and create and maintain qualified vendor lists that meet the needs of the company.
- Establish work scopes for subcontractors for each project.
- Develop material cost information for specific project types.
- Coordinate with external engineering consultants and authorities to ensure compliance with building regulations and codes
- Interface with clients, owner's representatives and account executives.
- Coordinate and implement value engineering activities to evaluate and meet customer objectives within a cost-effective budget.
- Coordinate bidding processes and obtain and analyze bids on projects.
- Provide other services such as change order pricing, attending pre-bid conferences and site visits.
- Maintain familiarity with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the construction field
- Maintains high standards for the construction services organization for the conduct of business in a professional and ethical manner.
- Maintains departmental processes and procedures in conjunction with company policy and other departments’ procedures.
- Assists with the defining the performance metrics for “site based” Superintendents and Project Engineers.
- Works with the major suppliers and subcontractors to meet or improve project schedule and estimate.
- Manages and reports on each project through status reporting processes.
- Assists with the QA/QC program and its implementation for each project.
- Assists the Safety Director and the implementation for each project.
- Manages project closeout processes and ensures all documents and processes are completed within contract specifications for each project.
- Conducts “site” visits on a regular basis.
- Manages multiple projects from “home” office and assist in estimating as required.
- Processes and reviews shop drawings, submittals and subcontracts.
Required Skills/Experience
- Technical school graduate or equivalent practical experience in construction estimating.
- 10+ years in-depth experience in electrical estimating and hard-bidding for construction projects.
- Thorough understanding of commercial construction, bid assembly, buyout, and subcontracting.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial or residential building means and methods, and an ability to identify specific project requirements
- Ability to coordinate and clarify issues with potential clients, provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, assist project management in selecting projects to bid, and assist in closing deals.
- Detail oriented.
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
- Estimating with Accubid and ProCor
- Minimum 6-12 years commercial contracting experience.
- Strong leadership, supervisory and construction management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- 1-3 years experience in management of “field” based project managers and superintendents.
- Strong organization and multi-tasking skills.
- Must be effective in a fast paced environment.
- Must be able to prioritize and organize multiple tasks
- Strong computer skills in MS Office including Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
