Job Purpose
On a day-to-day basis, the members of the Electrical Engineering team are responsible for designing, testing, and performing failure analysis for all aspects of our system. Our system is a class II medical device. You will be designing new and editing existing circuits, performing bring up on PCBAs and systems, coordinating hardware builds, coordinating hardware testing, helping root-cause system issues, and helping to find and implement solutions.
Essential Job Functions
- Designing new circuits and editing existing ones using schematic capture.
- Understanding how to perform Failure Analysis on current systems and suggest improvements.
- Performing and inspecting PCBA bring up and debug. This includes inspecting electrical components during and after the installation.
- Ability to create and organize system testing using standard lab equipment including DMMs and scopes.
- Writing and implementing test procedures and documentation.
- Developing scripts in Python to automate testing and verification.
- Identifying, recording, and thoroughly documenting to track bugs and issues.
- Help plan, coordinate, and manage engineering builds with both internal and external resources.
- Working with external vendors to acquire part samples and test, while preparing cost estimates. Interacting with contractors and customers using verbal and written communication.
- Responsible for following the company’s quality management system and all applicable regulations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or higher.
- Writing skills for preparing manuals, parts lists, proposals and design documentation for schematics.
- Strong working and hands-on knowledge of both analog and digital circuits.
- Experience with embedded microprocessors running custom bare-metal firmware.
- Ability to read and understand board layouts. Focus and concentration to understand complex electrical systems.
- Understanding how to use standard lab equipment, such as using industry-specific tools to analyze and test electronics.
- Experience with embedded systems.
- Desired: Experience writing Python scripting.
- Desired: Experience with RF and RF equipment.
- Desired: Love of side projects, automation, and scripting test equipment.
- Previous experience with builds and bring up is a strong plus.
- Must be full-time onsite (Pleasanton office).
- Excellent verbal communication skills to explain technical specifics.
- Ability to work with ambiguity, minimal guidance, and on a small team. Self-motivation to keep up with current electrical advances using new technologies.
- Time-management skills for meeting deadlines.
