MHS is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve people's lives and instill hope by providing cost-effective community-based mental health, drug and alcohol recovery, and housing services. We continually seek new and improved ways of serving our clients and communities.

JOB SUMMARY

The Dual Recovery Specialist provides staff, clients, family members and community members with information and education about substance abuse and strategies for relapse prevention as related to supporting their housing. This role provides therapeutic services in the community and develops implements social model interventions.

  • Provide service coordination/case management for an assigned group of clients including coordinating and monitoring activities of the treatment team.
  • Collaborate with Program Supervisor in rotating client visits/assignments with the treatment team.
  • Develop, evaluate, and implement treatment goals and plans in conjunction with the treatment team.
  • Provide individual supportive coaching in all areas of clients' life; Provide symptom management.
  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and risk assessments and maintain a daily log of client contacts.
  • Conduct individual counseling including crisis intervention.
  • Provide support to all clients including on-call crisis intervention covering nighttime and weekend hours as needed.
  • Conduct and oversee psychoeducational groups for individuals with co-occurring disorders as directed by Program Manager.
  • Perform shift management duties in coordination with other staff as directed by Program Manager.
  • Comply with all charting and documentation requirements per contract, funding agency, and MHS policy.
  • Participate in Treatment Team Meetings and Peer Review Meetings.
  • Prepare critical care issues for discussion during supervision and Daily Organizational Staff Meetings.
  • Provide liaison, brokerage, and rehabilitation services to clients.
  • Meet productivity requirements and documentation standards established by the County, MHS, and the Program.
  • Provide program information to community agencies connected to the mental health and substance abuse services system.
  • Comply with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures including HIPAA standards.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have one of the following:
    • o Master's degree in a behavioral science and at least two years of experience providing clinical services to individuals with mental illness, OR
    • o BA/BS degree in behavioral science or substance abuse treatment and at least four years of experience providing clinical services to individuals with mental illness
  • Valid California driver's license and current auto insurance coverage per contract requirements, required
  • SUD certification through an accredited certifying entity, preferred
  • Fluency in English. Bilingual in Spanish, preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and EHR software
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cultural and socio-economic factors that inform service provision to persons with psychiatric or dual diagnosis disorders
  • Trained and experienced in Motivational Interview training and the Stages of Change Model.
  • Cultural competency relevant to community/communities served. Must be able to engage culturally diverse populations. Must be dependable, maintain flexible hours, able to follow instructions, timely respond to management, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to problem solve, set priorities, and react appropriately to emergency situations
  • Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, both in writing and orally, with employees, management and co-workers
  • Must possess skills necessary to provide effective counseling, therapy and clinical services, and the ability to successfully work as a member of a treatment team
