++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Brief Job Description:DBIS is a not-for-profit agency located in the Bronx and Yonkers serving individuals with developmental disabilities. The DSP is responsible for implementing Individual Service Plans, overall familiarity with individual needs, and active advocacy for all program participants. DSP is expected to support each individual in establishing functional independence in specific skill areas, implementing individual's residential Service Plan goals and objectives, and documenting their progress. In addition, assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADL's).The DSP/Drivers provides:
Supports based on the individual's needs, preferences, and choices.
Perform a wide variety of tasks and activities based on the valued outcomes of each person.
Encourage, guide and offer training to develop daily living skills, ensuring personal needs are met.
Promoting active engagement in the community life and ensuring health and safety.
Create a positive and enriching program environment for all persons supported.
Expected to know, understand and live the Code of Ethics.
Work under the supervision of a Manager/Assistant Manager/Shift Supervisor.
Provide an array of supports to individuals with Developmental Disabilities (ID/DD), dual diagnoses, and individuals on the autism spectrum.
Motivate individuals to develop their vocational, nutritional, social, and personal skills to achieve the highest possible level of independence.
Offer in positive settings that are the least restrictive possible.
Experience:
Six months - 1 year in the Human or Health services field preferred but not required.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Mandatory Requirements for DSP/Drivers:
Clean, valid New York State Driver License w/acceptable driving record check.
You must have a valid Driver's License with less than 4 points.
Transport individuals to and from residence to program using agency vehicles.
At least three years of driving experience
Must be able to drive a 15 passenger Van
Additional Requirements:
Excellent verbal and written skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with people.
Exceptional analytical ability and organizational skills.
Flexibility, poise, tact, and the ability to develop rapport with individuals of various backgrounds and positions.
Days & Hours:
7 hours daily, Monday - Friday Shifts 8 am-4 pm
Occasional weekend for mandated training

Since then, Daybreak has expanded its mission to multiple locations adding both people and additional services. We Serve hundreds of New Yorkers living with developmental disabilities.Partnerships with local businesses like Stew Leonard, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls have allowed the vision to grow exponentially. In addition, taking on residential programs has allowed us to serve those that need round-the-clock supervision.It's only the beginning.
