Major Responsibilities:
  • Driver Technician I will become knowledgeable and competent on the basic DME and specific RT equipment.
    • 1)Must be able to provide detailed operational and maintenance instruction to patients and caregivers. Patient must be able to explain and demonstrate proper operation prior to completing delivery.
    • 2)Maintain competencies on all equipment and operational processes.
    • 3)Perform risk assesment on all oxygen patients and document according to policy and procedure.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely delivery, pick-up and or switchout of basic DME and RT equipment.
    • 1)Verify delivery ticket and supplies match.
    • 2)Load and secure equipment on vehicle in accordance with policy and procedure also in accordance with DOT and FDA regulations.
    • 3)Contact patient and caregivers with approximate delivery time per Advocate service standards and notified when delayed.
    • 4)Provide deliveries, pick-ups and switchouts in accordance with route orders.
    • 5)Return used and dirty equipment to proper "dirty area" at end of shift.
  • Driver Technician I will learn how to complete paperwork in a neat, accurate, timely and in accordance within regulatory rules.
    • 1)Initiate route sheet and maintain throughout shift, completing pre-trip inspection, corresponding delivery times mileage and lot #s.
    • 2)Complete delivery tickets and all other paperwork for each delivery stop, including all appropriate equipment, patient, safety, risk assesment, insurance information and signatures.
    • 3)Collect COD's as required and drop into safe.
    • 4)Clear route at completion of day.
    • 5)Complete all company FDA, DOT and all other regulatory paperwork daily.
    • 6)Comply with all company regulatory and operational policy and procedures.
  • Driver Technician I will maintain and operate company vehicles in accordance with company policies, procedures and regulatory agencies.
    • 1)Operate vehicle in accordance with local laws.
    • 2)Maintain vehicle and documentation in accordance with DOT, FDA guidelines and company policy.
    • 3)Inspect vehicle daily and document on appropriate forms.
    • 4)Inform Lead and or Manager of any vehicle problems or accidents. Complete any and all documentation relating to vehicle accidents which Includes police, accident and incident report.
  • Driver Technician I will work on-call schedule as indicated by management.
  • Attend meetings and handle other duties as assigned.


Education/Experience Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Mechanical abilities. Drives vehicle. Attention to detail. Ability to perform in fast paced,diverse environment. Knowledge of metropolitan streets and service area. This position will need to recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e., understand child growth and development, normal aging; prior experience with various age groups is preferred.
  • Current Illinois drivers license. CDL within first 6 mouths of employment


Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • May be required to make deliveries to private residences that may not be Accessible to people with disabilities. Work on call schedule.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. For lifts over 50 pounds, lifting equipment is expected to be used or lift with at least one other associate when available. Unique lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case by case basis. May be required to lift greater than 50 pounds from floor to waist.
