Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Dispatcher/Driver Manager - Drayage who is fluent in both English and Spanish to join our drayage trucking operations team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and managing the transportation of goods between ports and warehouses, ensuring efficient and timely delivery. Your exceptional communication skills in both languages will allow you to effectively communicate with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispatching and Routing: Assign drivers and equipment to pickups and deliveries based on customer orders, priority levels, hours of service and availability. Optimize routes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency while ensuring on-time deliveries.
- Driver Management: Monitor driver schedules, track working hours to comply with regulations, and ensure safe driving practices. Coordinate driver assignments and replacements as needed to maintain smooth operations.
- Customer Service: Act as the primary point of contact for customers, providing timely updates on shipment status and addressing any inquiries or concerns. Resolve customer complaints and service issues professionally.
- Documentation and Record-keeping: Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including load information, pickup and delivery times, driver check-in/check-out, and incidents. Process necessary paperwork such as bills of lading and delivery receipts.
- Problem-solving and Troubleshooting: Address operational issues such as route disruptions, driver shortages, or equipment failures. Collaborate with internal teams to find effective solutions and maintain smooth operations.
- Bilingual Communication: Utilize your bilingual skills to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce and customer base. Assist with language barriers and translations to ensure clear and accurate communication.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancements within dispatching and driver management functions. Implement best practices and technology solutions to optimize operations and enhance customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Fluency in English and Spanish.
- Proven experience in dispatching, driver management, or related roles within the drayage trucking industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Knowledge of drayage trucking industry practices and transportation regulations.
- Proficiency in transportation management software (TMS) and other relevant computer applications.
- Ability to work under pressure, make quick decisions, and adapt to fast-paced environments.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Pay: $59,086.00 - $63,751.00 per year
