ROLE OVERVIEW
Across the Entertainment One Unscripted content slate the Director of Production Finance & Accounting will oversee the day-to-day management of the production accounting function through the production lifecycle from development to wrap and audit. They will work cross-functionally with the Studio divisions including Business and Legal Affairs, Production, Corporate Finance, Production Finance, Creative, and Treasury. Major responsibilities include:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct production accounting teams working closely on a day-to-day basis to ensure accurate, complete and timely cost reporting, protecting and managing show assets and supporting production.
- Review budgets for accuracy focusing on union and guild rate calculations when applicable, fringes, admin costs, etc.
- Monitors payment schedules for ATL talent and solves for any contractual, withholding tax issues etc.
- Collaborates with Production Finance executives to source, interview and hire production accounting teams
- Lead the production accounting teams on SOX compliance within productions and performs spot audits
- Act as a key resource to production accountants on studio policies and procedures; provide guidance on corporate structure, flow of funding and intercompany journal entries or bill backs.
- Assigns and monitors workflow of Production Accounting Staff
- Responsible for training of the production accounting teams
- Implements, enforces and audits Studio production accounting policies and procedures on productions
- Approves production cash flows from production accountants
- Monitors bank accounts and approves bank reconciliations
- Approves weekly funding requests for unscripted productions
- Attends cost report meetings escalating concerns to management
- Liaise with producing partners
- Leads transition of production accounting from development to physical production to post accounting through wrap.
- Ensures monthly production reporting such as bank reconciliations, trial balances, and cost reports are accurate and provided timely to the Production Finance Reporting team
- Directs & monitors accounting of tax credits on assigned productions
- Point person for questions and document requests during periodic audits
- Work with physical production, post-production, corporate finance, BLA and creative in a collaborative environment
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with union and non-union production and guidelines in a variety of formats
- Experience with direct oversight and leadership of show level Production Accountants
- 7-10+ years Production Accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Solid understanding of production insurance, guilds and unions, tax incentives, tax compliance and various types of production audits.
- Movie Magic Budgeting and entertainment industry production accounting software experience required including EPSmart Accounting and other EP products/platforms.
- Strong excel skills a must.
