Overview:
The Director of Mercy Coding Services for Mercy will be responsible for the development, implementation, and leadership of Mercy Coding Services Department, including, oversight of operations that will standardize coding services for Mercys hospitals and specialty clinics. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, guiding principles and Mercy Service Standards.

Overview:
The Director of Mercy Coding Services for Mercy will be responsible for the development, implementation, and leadership of Mercy Coding Services Department, including, oversight of operations that will standardize coding services for Mercys hospitals and specialty clinics. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, guiding principles and Mercy Service Standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 1. Ten years of leadership experience in hospital and/or physician coding. 2. Experience with electronic health record systems and encoder software- Epic and 3M preferred. 3. Experience with project management.
- Education: Associate degree in Health Information Technology, or a health-related discipline.
- Certifications: RHIT, RHIA, CCS or CPC
- Other: 1. Knowledge of reimbursement structures and the revenue cycle. 2. Knowledge or regulatory, legal, and accrediting requirements related to health care. 3. Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively and form working relationships with various departments and levels of leadership within Mercy. 4. Strong written and verbal communication skills. 5. Strong analytical skills. 6. Ability to work independently. 7. Ability to travel as needed, up to 30%.
