Job Description

The Director of the Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development will support the Nemours strategy and oversee operations of the Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development. The role of the Director is to support academic professional development, advancement and promotion and Nemours national footprint as an academic institution. This role will be critical in developing infrastructure, assessing faculty and clinician needs, and developing key curricula and assessing program outcomes. This position will also serve as the liaison to existing resources and collaborating stakeholders both internal and external to Nemours.

Some of the essential functions are listed below:
  1. (Professional Development) Develop an academic professional development and mentoring infrastructure.
  2. (Professional Development) Identify and evaluate faculty professional development gaps/needs, develop curricula and evaluate program outcomes (e.g., mentoring)
  3. (Professional Development) Support existing faculty development programs and resources and develop new initiatives based on identified gaps/needs
  4. (Professional Development) Support clinical educators by assuring that educators at Nemours have tools and skills to advance as education leaders nationally.
  5. (Advancement and promotion) Establish and maintain a Nemours centralized academic structure and criteria for promotion to support systemness and equity in advancement (e.g., Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor). Assure alignment with national standards.
  6. (Advancement and promotion) Coordinate faculty programs with academic partners and create core programs and others that are specific to the different academic partners
  7. (Advancement and promotion) Identify resources needed system-wide to support academic advancement and promotion
  8. (National Footprint) Recognizes opportunities for national impact and promotes an increase in academic output

Qualifications:

This position requires a MD or PhD with experience in successfully establishing a successful faculty academic or research advancement program. The ideal candidate would have experience working within a large system.
